Briana Yvette Rivera is a film visionary, expressionist and filmmaker based in Tampa, Florida. As a current student studying both Film and Marketing at the University of Florida in Gainesville, she has spent her young adult years partaking in student productions, from acting, writing, directing and marketing. She hopes to develop valuable skills in all levels of the production process, create lasting connections with likeminded creatives and share her story with the world, one film at a time.
From an early age, Briana had always wanted to be an entertainer. Born into a life of humble beginnings in the small outskirt towns of Tampa Bay, she had always yearned for a voice on the bigger stage. What started as fun skits to make her family laugh became piano recitals, elementary school choir, middle school talent shows and high school musical theatre. A powerful passion to not only be seen but to shed a light onto others' stories became a driving force in the development of her enthusiasm for film. The earliest memories she has are those shared with her father, watching a film in their homemade theatre with a sheet and some cushions after school. A good film could always take her out of her grayed realty and soar her into new, bright and colorful places. A good film would always stick with her, never leaving her thoughts, even for months at a time. A good film would leave her conflicted on her reality, the truth trapped in a screen while the dream was out here. Every day, just waiting to wake up again and feel, learn and evolve through another story. A want so strong, it had overcome financial fears, self doubt and the entrapment of societal norms.
Now, in college and, after an extenuating amount of major changes, Briana had faced the truth that had weighed on every aspect of her life. After years spent escaping reality through film, she decided to fuel her passion and develop it into a career, in the hopes of bringing the color only seen in the movies into the real world. Acting in a few student films led to creating movie posters and marketing for them, soon thereafter developing the want to write, direct and compose art. In a little over a year, Briana had gone from a student on the outskirts of the film community at her college to a central leader, founding a film club for Hispanic students, executively leading another and creating her own independent projects. With a plan to intern in California move to Georgia post-graduation, Briana has her eyes set to that big, red and bright stage, ready to share the true power of determination, compassion, and most of all, inspiration with the world.
