PLEASE READ FESTIVAL GUIDELINES BEFORE SUBMITTING

Bradford Queer Film Festival is a city wide celebration of film and storytelling from LGBTQIA+ people. We platform new filmmakers, show classic and hidden gems and promote the screening of queer stories.

We are for filmmakers and film lovers alike and alongside screenings we use food, parties and event cinema to bring together the community.

Bradford Queer Film Festival awards the following prizes-

Audience Award - Feature
Audience Award - Short ( under 15 minutes)
Audience Award - Short (under 60 minutes)
Audience Award - Animation

We have added fees to ensure filmmakers look to our rules and only apply if their films are relevant to our programme

If you require a waiver code to remove the submission fee please contact us at alice@castlesinthesky.info

Entries are only accepted via FilmFreeway and must be available as h.264 .mp4 or pro res .mov

All films must be available to be screened in the United Kingdom and be free of licensing fees.

Filmmakers may submit no more than 2 films and those submitted may not be available online at time of the festival (excluding music videos) - submitting more than 2 films will result in all of that filmmaker's films being disqualified from consideration.

All films in all languages must include closed captions in English, if your film does not have closed captions by submitting you agree to adding captions if your film is selected.

Filmmakers must submit promotional stills and bios if selected.

We regretfully have a limited budget and cannot guarentee we can host filmmakers who are selected as we anticipate a large programme. We are however happy to discuss festival attendance and can provide free tickets to screenings if filmmakers can attend. We on occasion will also invite some filmmakers or teams to be part of panels or events.

FANTASTIC FESTIVAL! Professional, well-run, with a great selection. I couldn't attend in person unfortunately but I wish I did.

Thank you for having me with my short film LOVHER! The BQFF showed a great selection of shorts, docs, features and anniversary screenings.
What made me fall in love with this little Festival was that it actually felt like the local Queer Community got together. There was food, performances, Q&As, great films and always great company.

I travelled 4 hours round trip for our screening of 'Where Are All the Gay Superheroes?' at BQFF in 2024 - and I'm so glad I did! The venue felt intimate with a packed audience, the BQFF team was absolutely lovely and the programme was exciting. Great chats with other filmmakers, though-provoking films and a free tote bag. Thank you BQFF.

Took part in BQFF for the first time in a Q&A as a filmmaker in November on behalf of my film ‘I Would Like to Live on the Moon.’ Alice Parsons was very welcoming and programmed lots of great queer films!
