Boris Thompson-Roylance is a visual artist, director, and co-founder of the multi-award-winning production company Deadbeat Studios. Working across documentary, fiction, and installation, his work explores identity, ecology, folklore, and subculture, often situating contemporary tensions within wider cultural and historical contexts.
His short films and documentaries have screened internationally and received awards from festivals including Toronto Documentary Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and the South African Independent Film Festival. As an executive producer, his credits include Swede Caroline (Raindance Spirit Award winner, BIFA-longlisted), Matar (Lovie and Shark Award winner), and Bury Your Gays (IRIS, Channel 4).
His work has been featured by BAFTA, BBC, BFI, NOWNESS, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Minute Shorts, and WaterBear.
