Our mission is to discover the best scripts from every small town to every big city of the world and to shine a light on them for everyone to see. Whether you've just finished your first script or you're a veteran writer, Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest wants to see your work! We accept all genres and all lengths of scripts.

Winners will be announced live with trophies at the spring edition at the Eastwood Performing Arts Center in Hollywood and also for the fall edition at the Awards Gala for City of Angels Film Festival in Hollywood at the Harmony Gold Theater.

Lisa K. Crosato:
Founder and Creative Director. Award winning actor and writer and based in Los Angeles.

Paul Dubois:
Award winning International Producer and based in London, UK.

Abdul Malik Abbott:
Award winning DGA producer, director, and lead editor for the (AAFCA) African American Film Critics Association's prestigious award shows and other projects and based in Los Angeles

Tom Holland:
Iconic American DGA director and screenwriter of Horror and Thriller films and based in Los Angeles

Henry Penzi:
Hollywood powerhouse producer and talent manager working with A list stars and delivering blockbuster entertainment and based in Los Angeles.

Sunil Sadarangani:
Award winning producer and writer working with top media outlets including Deadline Hollywood and based in Los Angeles.

Dr. Rebekah Louisa Smith:
She creates new ways to approach festival strategies and redefine how to look after one’s mental health within the intense & rewarding world of film festivals and based in Dallas Texas.

Julita Litkowiec:
International Festival Coordinator and head of marketing and media team
Planning international strategy to promote both the festival and Official Selections of the festival and based in London UK.

Pam Finn:
An award-winning film director, accomplished TV presenter, and respected PR mentor with a passion for storytelling and based in Galway City, Ireland

Carol McCann:
Award winning writer and filmmaker and founding member of the critically acclaimed Alarm Dog Repetory Theater with Academy Award winner Alan Ball (American Beauty, Six Feet Under) and Nancy Oliver (Six Feet Under, Lars and the Real Girl) and based in New York and Los Angeles.

Winning writers will receive:

- Trophies (if present at the Awards Gala - trophies cannot be mailed)
- Digital Award Certificate (if not present at the Awards Gala)
Select winners will be given publicity in our Annual Press Release and on our website.

***Official Selections of Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest will be given one free filmmaker pass to attend City of Angels Film Festival which runs December 11th-14th. You will have access to all screenings, Q&A's, exclusive panels and the free mixers that the festival offers.

Rules & Terms

All submitters guarantee the Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest that they have the legal authority to act on behalf of their project and to give Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest the right to promote their project/s.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

1. Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest accepts feature-length screenplays, short screenplays, and TV Pilots screenplays. Feature-length screenplays must be no longer than 130-pages. Any screenplay over 130 pages must be submitted as part 1 and then separately as part 2.

2. Submitted screenplays cannot have been optioned, purchased, or otherwise produced at the time of submission.

3. Writers may submit as many screenplays as they’d like to the competition, however, each script requires a separate application and payment.

4. All entries must be submitted in English.

5. Submissions must include a title page with the author(s) and any relevant registration or copyright information. Submitting Writer must have the legal right to submit.

6. Screenplays must be submitted in PDF or MS WORD.

7. All screenplays are considered complete once they are received by Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest. No revisions or updated copies will be accepted unless special arrangements are made with the festival.

8. Submission fees are non-refundable. Please do not submit under student pricing if you are not a student. Doing so, will result in disqualification.

9. Please be sure to read all rules and regulations prior to submitting your project.

10. Please note that award winners will receive trophies and awards if they are present at the Awards Gala. If a winning writer cannot attend the Gala, the contest will send a digital award certificate. The contest will NOT mail trophies, nor will we accept any payment for trophies.

    Part of the City of Angels Film Festival, the Blockbuster Screenwriting Contest is a must for writers looking to spotlight movies with mass appeal. While the spirit is towards Independent film, the ethos is to commercial success, reflected in the high caliber judging and advisory panels. These guys are serious about getting voices heard and films made. They're also lovely. We learned of the passing of Rob and Michele Reiner at the awards ceremony, and the team walked the tightrope of absorbing the news and making the show go on. They did it with dignity, poise and care. Thank you CoAFF team and to all the directors and producers we met, and to Lisa, especially.
