BCCHTX Film Festival is a three day celebration of Black cinema, culture, and creative community in Houston. Created by Black Cinema Club HTX, the festival brings together filmmakers, film lovers, industry leaders, emerging creatives, and cultural tastemakers for an elevated experience rooted in storytelling, access, education, and connection.

More than a screening event, BCCHTX Film Festival is designed as a living ecosystem for Black film culture. Across three days, the festival features curated screenings, filmmaker conversations, hands on workshops, industry insight, family centered programming, community dialogue, and high energy cultural experiences that reflect both the artistry and the future of Black cinema.

The festival opens with Scenes & Soundtrax, Black Cinema Club HTX’s signature cinematic mixer experience, setting the tone with style, nostalgia, music, and community. From there, the weekend expands into a dynamic lineup that includes Fresh Frames, a family centered screening and conversation for parents and young creatives, Space City Shorts, a curated showcase of Houston’s finest Black independent filmmakers, and the BCCHTX Film Lab Series, an education platform built to equip filmmakers with real tools, real access, and real strategy.

Festival programming also includes The Pitch Room, a hands on workshop focused on development and pitching, The Producer’s Cut, a candid conversation on producing and navigating the business of film, and The Director’s Cut, a masterclass in craft, execution, and creative vision. The celebration continues with ASCENSION, Black Cinema Club HTX’s one year anniversary party, marking a major moment for the organization and its growing cultural impact in Houston.

On the final day, the festival shifts into industry and infrastructure building through Industry House, Create A Thon, Houston Hittas, and Center Stage: America’s 250, a closing conversation on legacy, ownership, and the future of Black storytelling in American cinema. The festival culminates with the Film Grants Ceremony and Academy Launch, where Black Cinema Club HTX officially launches its inaugural academy and grant initiative for first time filmmakers.

Grateful to be included in the inaugural year. This festival felt intentional from the start. Not just well curated, but thoughtfully built for filmmakers and people who just genuinely love film. Everything was clear, welcoming, and easy to navigate. It was the most inspiring festival I’ve been part of, not just because of the films, but because of the care they put behind it. The master classes especially stayed with me. I left with real industry knowledge to carry forward. 10/10
