Beyond the Plot Story Festival is a global celebration of original storytelling created by storytellers with more than 20 years of experience developing, producing, and delivering stories from script to screen. Built on the belief that remarkable films and television series begin with extraordinary ideas, Beyond the Plot exists to champion talented storytellers with bold voices, compelling concepts, and the vision to shape what audiences watch next.

Unlike traditional screenplay competitions, our submission process is intentionally designed to discover exceptional stories at their foundation. We invite creators to share the heart of their vision through a compelling logline and a one-page story synopsis or treatment, allowing every submission to be evaluated on the strength of its concept, characters, originality, and storytelling. Writers with completed screenplays or teleplays are welcome to include them as optional supporting material, but every submission is judged first and foremost on the power of the story.

For select storytellers, recognition is only the beginning. Through the Beyond the Plot Story Lab, standout concepts continue into a collaborative development process where exceptional ideas are refined into industry-ready screenplays and teleplays while preserving the creative vision that made them unforgettable.
