ABOUT
I’ve worked in radio, publishing, independent film, theater, education, stand-up and improv comedy, and social justice organizing to elevate the voices of women of color.
MISSION
I make music and films because I want to show that the human imagination, instead of fear, can guide us as we shape our world. I make art to embody forbidden dreams, sing about silenced truths, and reinvent our future. If we can imagine it, if we can see it, then we can also invite it into real life, through action.
METHOD
I create and produce each aspect of my videos: lyrics, music, story, and photography. Each song starts with the lyrics I write. Then, I record, mix, and use the resulting sound as a narrative map for the video that I shoot and produce.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
I worked at The New Yorker Magazine as the Assistant Poetry Editor from 2010 to 2014. When my NYCFringe play “HALF” was selected to tour Italy as part of the Rome Fringe Festival, I expanded into full-time pursuit of live comedy performance and theater production. In 2015, I worked at the WNYC Radio show Studio 360, where I moved from editorial work to sound design. From 2016 to 2017, I worked as a program manager and event producer for the social justice nonprofit The OpEd Project while producing live comedy and working as a videographer. This path led me to today: I work as a freelance photographer, videographer, producer, comedian, and musician.
