Bermuda Black Film Festival Presents:
The Bermuda Black Film Weekend
'Connecting Voices Across the Diaspora'

The Bermuda Black Film Weekend is an international celebration of Black storytelling, culture, and creativity, bringing together filmmakers, actors, producers, writers, scholars, students, and audiences from across the African diaspora.

Held in the heart of the Black Atlantic, Bermuda occupies a unique place in the story of the African diaspora. Positioned at the colonial crossroads of Africa, the Caribbean, North America, and Europe, the Bermuda Black Film Weekend serves as a gathering place for filmmakers, creatives, and cultural leaders to explore identity, representation, heritage, and the enduring power of storytelling.

We welcome films that explore the diverse experiences, histories, cultures, and futures of Black communities around the world. Whether rooted in Africa, the Caribbean, North America, Latin America, Europe, or elsewhere in the diaspora, we seek stories that illuminate the connections, contrasts, and shared experiences that shape our global community.

The Bermuda Black Film Weekend is particularly interested in films that:
• Celebrate Black stories, history, culture, and lived experiences
• Explore themes of identity, heritage, migration, and belonging
• Highlight underrepresented perspectives and untold narratives
• Showcase exceptional storytelling and artistic excellence
• Feature authentic representations of Black communities
• Amplify the voices of Black women directors, producers, writers, cinematographers, and other creatives working behind the camera
• Spark dialogue, reflection, and cultural understanding

While the festival's focus is on Black stories and experiences, submissions are welcome from filmmakers of all backgrounds whose work contributes meaningfully to the understanding, representation, and celebration of the Black experience.

Selected films will be screened alongside a dynamic programme of conversations, workshops, networking opportunities, and special events featuring filmmakers, producers, actors, scholars, and cultural leaders from Bermuda, the Caribbean, Africa, the United States, and beyond.

A key component of the festival is its commitment to the next generation of storytellers. In partnership with GIFTED (Girls in Film, Technology, Entertainment & Design), the festival will host youth-focused programming designed to introduce young people to careers in film, media, and creative industries, while encouraging them to tell their own stories and share their own perspectives.

More than a film festival, the Bermuda Black Film Weekend is a space for connection, collaboration, and cultural exchange. It is an invitation to gather, share, learn, and celebrate the stories that shape our communities and connect us across the diaspora.
Join us as we build a new platform for storytelling across the Black Atlantic.
