Ben Dowden has been making films since he was given a super 8 camera aged 11. In his final year at university he won an award for 'unorthodox and original working methods'. He quickly realised that he didn't want to work his way up in 'the industry' so for a few years he left professional film work and instead worked on building sites, while making films for himself. After an opportunity arose at a major dance theatre in London to make some documentation work, he convinced the theatre to purchase him a camera in lieu of a formal payment. He has not looked back since then and now has 20 years experience in documenting the arts. At the same time he has continued to make work for himself, as well as receiving over 145 million views on his Youtube channel as BD, working extensively with musicians performing live for the camera. Only now has he decided to enter the film festival world with his 24 minute study of a pianist, 'Eleven Pieces'
