BARBARA DOUX is a French independent documentary filmmaker based in California. She has worked in Europe and the U.S. for 16 years as a cinematographer, photographer, advertising art director, graphic designer, martial artist, and yoga instructor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Barbara attended les beaux-arts de Toulouse, earning her degree in Visual Communication at Renoir in Paris, France. She also received an HND in advertising in London, England. Barbara went on to work as an Art Director at advertising agencies in Paris and London, specializing in the charity sector.

AWARDS
The Missouri Photo Workshop awarded Barbara the Howard Chapnick Award, which recognizes photographers' exceptional honesty and integrity in exploring issues of great social concern. Barbara also won a Press Advertising Award for her work on a WWF campaign, and the Good 50x70 Posters competition endorsed by Amnesty International.

LATEST WORK
Barbara recently wrote, directed, and produced her first documentary feature film, The Heart of France in 80 Days. As an avid traveler with a heart for adventure, Barbara brings all her experience, strength, and vulnerability to this remarkable film. Meeting strangers is at the core of her mission. She sees in others an openness to connect and a family bond stronger than difference or division. In all projects, her goal is to raise awareness and inspire viewers to feel with their hearts. Her work often focuses on people that society turns away: the damaged, the marginalized, and the strange. Her next documentary spotlights an indigenous family from Colombia.
