Barbara Bargiel is a Polish - British Film Director & Scriptwriter based in London for the past 21 years. Currently, she was selected to the BBC Shadow Directors Pool ( Kids & Family) and the Screencraft Works Cross- Border Mentoring Programme, and is being mentored by Kaura Linda ( USA, NYC)- CEO & Founder of The Space Dream Productions. Barbara makes films with an all- female crew. She is a Bafta Connect Director working on debut feature.
She is drawn to the stories of unsung heroes and their contemporary circumstances. How justice and empowerment can be served for them in films. She feels comfortable making drama that leans towards another genre like comedy, thriller, horror. She dreams to direct a Western and Film Noir one day!
In industry Barbara watched films & read screenplays for Bafta Yugo Students Awards as a Jury, North East International Film Festival as a Film Screener, Sunderland Short Films Festival as a Film Reviewer, Watersprite Film Festival as a film and screenplay Judge. She contributed her storytelling expertise to Iconic Steps, Dyspla, and other freelance Writer-Directors and Scriptwriters.
Since 2013, Barbara directed several shorts, which showcased and won awards in film festivals worldwide. Big Syn International Film Festival (UN), Birmingham Film Festival, Bifa qualifying Sunderland Short Film Festival, New Renaissance Film Festival, Oregon Short Film Festival, Short Sweet Film Festival- Comedy Festival in Cleveland, Ohio and San Francisco Indie Short Film Festival, to name a few.
