A passionate story-teller
Barathraj Ravidass is an independent filmmaker from Tamil Nadu, India. With a background in storytelling rooted in the everyday lives of working-class people, he seeks to bring out voices and struggles that are often silenced or overlooked. Pattam (Kite) marks his debut short film, exploring themes of migration, exploitation, dignity, and resilience through the lens of a mother and her differently-abled child.
As a first-time filmmaker, Barath draws inspiration from social realities around him, weaving them into narratives that are both intimate and universal. His vision is to create cinema that provokes thought, stirs empathy, and resonates across cultures and languages.
