You are one connection away from the launch pad to your career and we have a relationship with a distributor in LA so we can refer any film to them (they specialize in documentaries).

Baltimore Film Festival & Screenplay Competition (BAFF) was created to give all artists the avenue to connect, collaborate and continue. With a keen focus on transparency, originality and on spotlighting visionary voices, BAFF is a harbor for talent and it offers an experience that is missing in the festival circuit.

After you add the laurel to your poster, tag us so we can post it as well. All selected films and screenplays will not only receive laurels, but also clear explanations on why they were chosen.

Submissions are judged solely on the strength of the work. No genre is considered greater than another genre. Every film and screenplay is evaluated on equal footing. There is no preferential treatment.

The best out there. We want to advance cinema. We don't discriminate against the genre, duration, origin, language, year, etc of the film. We welcome artists of all backgrounds as well.

DO YOU CONSIDER WORKS-IN-PROGRESS?
Yes. It should be indicated what remains to be done and by when it would be completed however it is recommended to have a finished film.

DOES SUBMITTING IN THE LATER DEADLINES WORK AGAINST ME?
No. In fact, 63% of all official selections in 2026 submitted in the final deadline. All submissions are evaluated on an even playing field. The final decisions aren't made until every submission has been completely through the review process.

DOES MY FILM NEED TO HAVE A WORLD PREMIERE STATUS?
No. We want to celebrate visionary voices and do not limit the reach of such voices.

This was a great experience! The festival was very communication and I loved that their networking event was in a beautiful location on Baltimore Harbor. The films at the festival were also well-done and fun to watch, the panel discussion with filmmakers was educational, and I really appreciated the feedback given on my script. I felt so honored when my screenplay, Serenade, won best screenplay.

    Thank you, Baltimore Film Festival!

I was so honored that my screenplay ENYO was selected as a semifinalist in the competition. It was wonderful to meet and get to know talented writers and producers and actors at the Baltimore Film Festival. Thanks to Paulo and the festival staff, I feel like I’ve joined the creative community in this area. Superb.

BFF did a great job of organizing and hosting this out-of-the-box event. As a participating artist, I felt respected and welcomed to join in on the many opportunities that were on tap. If anything, my only suggestion is "more" -- more chances to be with my peers, more group photos, more time to talk about the work of screenwriting and the absolute need for community that comes from that process. Absolutely solid work from all involved, and I will continue to support the festival in any way I can. Thanks! And congratulations to the winners!
