Building on the longstanding relationship between Japan and the City of Boston, Boston Japan Film Festival is dedicated to exhibiting quality Japanese cinema and culture to the people of Boston and beyond!

Film Length: Short films of 15 minutes or less

Content Requirements:

The film must be related to Japan in theme or subject.

Films must include English subtitles or be primarily in English.
(※For films in Japanese without subtitles, the festival will provide English subtitles. In this case, the screening rights for the English-subtitled version must be granted to the festival.)

The film must not infringe upon copyrights related to video, images, music, portrait rights, or original works.

Submissions containing excessively explicit content, including sexual, violent, grotesque, or drug-related scenes that would qualify as R-18, are not accepted.

Production Status:
Works still in production at the time of application may be submitted as long as they are expected to be completed by the final deadline.

Eligibility:

The director must be 30 years old or younger at the time of submission.

The applicant must have the legal rights to screen all components of the film, including visuals, music, and any source material.
