GENERAL RULES

Bendita Tú is an international short film festival that promotes experimental, hybrid, and video essay cinema with a gender and queer perspective. Based in Argentina and Spain, the festival creates a space for encounter and dialogue to give visibility to emerging cinema within a diversity of identities and territories.

In its 8th edition, the festival chooses the Land as its central theme, a concept that opens the door to multiple meanings. It is, at the same time, the planet we inhabit and the soil that sustains life, as well as a network of relationships where the human and the non-human intertwine in a web of interdependence. From a poetic and broad perspective, the Land is conceived as a medium that evokes displacements, migrations, and diasporas, but also as a ground laden with scents, textures, and memories, where the organic and the inorganic merge. As Gaston Bachelard (1994) said, “the Land is a memory that can be touched,” an idea that gives it both sensory and symbolic resonances, transforming it into a space of reinvention, mourning, and resistance.

The festival proposes a dialogue around the interconnections situated in relation to this element. From indigenous worldviews, which understand the world as a living and sacred being (Shiva, 2005), to contemporary approaches that highlight the agency of the non-human (Bennett, 2010), with the aim of reflecting on how the Land territorializes and, at the same time, territorializes us, redefining notions of belonging and home in a context marked by profound geological and atmospheric transformations.

Entities considered “non-living” —the substrate, stones, sand— emerge as fundamental actors in narratives of displacement. As Ingold (2011) suggests, “life does not occur on the Land, but within its folds and textures.” Thus, through diverse audiovisual approaches, this edition is an invitation to feel the thickness of the Land, to listen to its multiple voices, and to recognize that, even in the most distant grounds, there are traces of life that connect us with other beings and with other temporalities, acknowledging that we are part of a constant flow of lives and materials that precede and will succeed us.

The 8th edition will feature a selection of short films included in the Official Competition and the Roots Section.

Best Short Film 2025

PARTICIPANTS

All individuals who self-identify as women, trans, and non-binary from any country in the world and appear in the director role of the submitted short film. In the case of works directed by more than one person, at least 50% must self-identify as women, trans, or non-binary.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

- All works must be submitted through the enabled platforms*. Only pieces completed after January 1, 2024, will be accepted.
- The duration must not exceed 25 minutes (including credits).
- A maximum of (1) work per person will be accepted.
- All works must include a private link and password for viewing.
- The works must be unpublished and not commercially exhibited on television or publicly distributed online.
- All works whose original language is not Spanish must be subtitled in English, including those in English. All selected works must provide the festival organization with subtitles in Spanish and English. Otherwise, the film may be disqualified.
- Selected authors will be asked for (1) copy of the film in one of the following formats for screening: ProRes HQ & H.264.
- Works previously submitted to the festival and/or selected in previous editions will not be accepted.
- Music videos or advertising spots will not be accepted.
- Minors under 18 must include the name and contact information of a parent or guardian in the registration form.

*The official platforms enabled for submission are Festhome and Filmfreeway.

REGISTRATION FEES

All short films must pay a non-refundable registration fee of 5 USD.

TECHNICAL DATA

Each submitted work must be accompanied by the following information:

- Original title and English title
- Director’s first and last name
- Year of production
- Duration
- Brief synopsis
- 4 still images from the film
- Film poster
- Photo of the director(s)
- Brief bio-filmography of the author(s)
- Private online link and password for the short film
- .srt file of subtitles in Spanish
- .srt file of subtitles in English
- Downloadable trailer or clip

LEGAL TERMS

Registration in Bendita Tú implies acceptance of the terms and conditions presented here, whose interpretation and application correspond to the festival organization.

After accepting the invitation, films cannot be withdrawn from the program. The decisions of the Selection Committee will be final.

Bendita Tú informs participants that all personal data provided by users will be treated in accordance with Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights.

The rights holder of the short film authorizes the free reproduction of images and excerpts (maximum 1 minute) of their short film in press, television, and publications for the promotion of each showcase.

Participating filmmakers assume authorship of their works and commit to not presenting audiovisual, phonographic, musical, or image materials for which they do not have duly accredited usage rights. The organization is not responsible for the improper use of intellectual property rights by the authors of the works.

The organization reserves the right to adapt the festival to an online format, and acceptance of these terms implies the consent of the authors.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

The registration deadline is July 31, 2025, at 23:59 (11:59 PM) Central European Summer Time (CEST) inclusive.

Selected films will be announced via email and on our social media no later than September 24, 2025. We may not be able to notify applicants whose submitted films were not selected for the festival program.

BASES DE PARTICIPACIÓN

Bendita Tú es un festival internacional de cortometrajes que promueve el cine experimental, híbrido y video ensayo, con perspectiva de género y queer. Con sede en Argentina y España, el festival crea un espacio de encuentro y diálogo para dar visibilidad a un cine emergente dentro de una diversidad de identidades y territorios.

En su VIII edición, el festival elige la tierra como eje central, un concepto que abre la puerta a múltiples significados. Es, al mismo tiempo, el planeta que habitamos y el sustrato que sostiene la vida, así como un entramado de relaciones donde lo humano y lo no humano se entrelazan en una red de interdependencia. Desde una mirada poética y amplia, la tierra se concibe como un medio que evoca desplazamientos, migraciones y diásporas, pero también como un suelo cargado de olores, texturas y memorias, donde lo orgánico y lo inorgánico se funden. Como dijo Gaston Bachelard (1994), “la tierra es una memoria que se toca”, una idea que le otorga resonancias tanto sensoriales como simbólicas, transformándola en un espacio de reinvención, duelo y resistencia.

El festival propone un diálogo en torno a las interconexiones situadas en relación con este elemento. Desde las cosmovisiones indígenas, que entienden el mundo como un ser vivo y sagrado (Shiva, 2005), hasta enfoques contemporáneos que destacan la agencia de lo no humano (Bennett, 2010), con el objetivo de reflexionar sobre cómo la Tierra se territorializa y, al mismo tiempo, nos territorializa, redefiniendo las nociones de pertenencia y hogar en un contexto marcado por profundas transformaciones geológicas y atmosféricas.

Las entidades consideradas “no vivas” —el sustrato, las piedras, la arena— emergen como actantes fundamentales en las narrativas de desplazamiento. Como sugiere Ingold (2011), “la vida no ocurre sobre la Tierra, sino en sus pliegues y texturas”. Así, a través de diversos enfoques audiovisuales, esta edición es una invitación a sentir el espesor de la Tierra, a escuchar sus múltiples voces y a reconocer que, incluso en los suelos más distantes, hay huellas de vida que nos vinculan con otros seres y con otras temporalidades, reconociendo que somos parte de un flujo constante de vidas y materias que nos preceden y nos sucederán.

En la VIII edición se proyectará una selección de cortometrajes comprendidos en la Competencia Oficial y la Sección Raíces.

PREMIOS

Mejor Cortometraje 2025

PARTICIPANTES

Todas las personas que se autodeterminen mujeres, trans y no binaries de cualquier país del mundo que aparezcan en el rol de dirección del cortometraje enviado. En caso de obras dirigidas por más de una persona, al menos el 50% de deberán autodeterminarse como mujeres, trans y no binaries.

REQUISITOS DE PARTICIPACIÓN

· Todas las obras deberán enviarse a través de las plataformas habilitadas a tal fin*. Solo se aceptarán piezas que hayan sido concluidas después del 1 de enero de 2024.

· La duración no será superior a 25 minutos (créditos incluidos).

· Se aceptará hasta un máximo de (1) obras por persona.

· Todas las obras deberán incluir enlace privado y contraseña para su visualización.

· Las obras deben ser inéditas y no exhibidas comercialmente en televisión ni distribuidas públicamente por Internet.

· Todas las piezas cuyo idioma original no sea el español deberán estar subtituladas al inglés, incluídas aquellas en inglés. Todas las piezas seleccionadas se comprometen a proporcionar a la organización del festival subtítulos en español e inglés. En caso contrario la película podría ser descalificada.

· Se pedirá a las autoras seleccionadas (1) copia de la película en cualquiera de los siguientes formatos para su proyección: ProRes HQ & H.264.

· No se aceptarán obras enviadas previamente al festival y/o seleccionadas en ediciones anteriores.

· No se aceptarán videoclips ni spots publicitarios.

· Las menores de 18 años deberán incluir en la ficha de inscripción el nombre de la madre/padre o tutor/a y la información de contacto.

* Las plataformas oficiales habilitadas para el envío de las obras serán Festhome y Filmfreeway.

TASAS DE INSCRIPCIÓN

Todos los cortometrajes deberán abonar una tasa de inscripción no reembolsable de 5 USD.

FICHA TÉCNICA

Cada obra presentada debe acompañarse de la siguiente información:

· Título original y en inglés
· Nombre y apellidos de la directora
· Año de producción
· Duración
· Sinopsis breve
· 4 imágenes de la película
· Póster de la película
· Foto de la/s directora/s
· Breve biofilmografía de la/s autora/s
· Enlace privado online y contraseña del cortometraje
· Archivo .srt de subtítulos en español.
· Archivo .srt de subtítulos en inglés.
· Trailer o fragmento descargable.

TÉRMINOS LEGALES

La inscripción en Bendita Tú implica la aceptación de las presentes bases y condiciones aquí presentadas, cuya interpretación y aplicación corresponde a la organización del festival.

Después de aceptar la invitación, las películas no podrán ser retiradas de la programación del ciclo. Los fallos del Comité de Selección serán inapelables.

Bendita Tú pone en conocimiento de las participantes que todos los datos de carácter personal aportados por las personas usuarias serán tratados de acuerdo a la Ley Orgánica 3/2018, de 5 de diciembre, de Protección de Datos Personales y garantía de los derechos digitales.

Quien posea los derechos del cortometraje autoriza la libre reproducción de imágenes e insertos (máximo 1 minuto) de su cortometraje en prensa, televisión y publicaciones en la promoción de cada muestra.

Las realizadoras participantes asumen la autoría de sus obras y se comprometen a no presentar materiales audiovisuales, fonográficos, musicales y de imagen sobre los cuales no tengan derechos de uso debidamente acreditados. La organización no se hace responsable del uso inadecuado de los derechos de la propiedad intelectual de los autores y autoras de las obras.

La organización se reserva el derecho de adaptar el festival a formato online, la aceptación de estas bases implica el consentimiento de las autoras.

FECHA DE INSCRIPCIÓN

La fecha límite de inscripción es el 31 de julio de 2025 a las 23:59 (11:59 PM) hora de verano de Europa Central (CEST), inclusive.

Las películas seleccionadas serán anunciadas vía email y en nuestras redes no más tarde del 24 de Septiembre de 2025. Es posible que no podamos notificar a las solicitantes cuyas películas enviadas no fueron seleccionadas para el programa del festival.
