Kishkentayev Dastan Askarovich was born in 1987 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. From a young age, he showed an interest in visual arts, attending the A. Kasteev Art Studio at the age of seven and participating in various children's art competitions.
After completing the 6th grade, he enrolled in the School at the T. Zhurgenov Academy of Arts. Following the 9th grade, he began studying at the Almaty College of Decorative and Applied Arts (AKDPI), specializing in Graphic Design, graduating successfully after four years.
He continued his education at the T. Zhurgenov Academy of Arts, majoring in "Animation Directing" at the Faculty of Cinema and Television. While studying, he participated in various animation and film festivals, such as the Boom Comics Festival in Saint Petersburg in 2010. He also completed the "Comics School" by Nicolas Journoud under the auspices of the French Embassy in Kazakhstan.
His studies didn’t stop there; he pursued further education in animation and attended the SHAR School-Studio in Moscow, specializing as an Animator, graduating and working until 2014.
In the same year, he returned to his hometown and started working at the Kazakhfilm studio as an animator. While working on the project Tastulek, he was offered an opportunity to collaborate with Kazakhfilm, the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports. This led to his directorial debut with the animated adaptation of the Korean folk tale Ush Syilyk (Three Gifts) in 2014.
From 2015 to 2019, he worked as an animator on various projects, most of which were produced by Dala Animation. Notable works include:

• Aidar Seasons 1–2, BalaPan TV, 2018–2019
In 2020, he took on the role of director again, working on the project Alpamys. He later directed the animatic for the Bodo-Borodo series episode Meowcy-Karabusy in Russia in 2022 and served as director-animator for the Kalay-Makalay project by Kazakh Animation in the same year.
From 2021 to 2023, he worked with INK Architects (Animation Department) as an animator and director, creating internet content.
