Regole e termini di partecipazione al BAIFF
Burano Artificial Intelligence Film Festival

Articolo 1: Ammissibilità
1.1 I film ammessi al concorso devono essere stati completati tra il 01 gennaio 2025 ed il 01 giugno 2026.
1.2 I film ammessi al concorso devono essere stati realizzati completamente o parzialmente (minimo 25%) con l’ausilio di software di IA che dovranno essere indicati chiaramente, senza omissioni, nel modulo di iscrizione.
Articolo 2: Presentazione
2.1 I registi devono presentare i loro film entro il 01 luglio 2026 attraverso il sito web FilmFreeway (www.filmfreeway.com). Non sono ammesse modalità di presentazione diversa da quella indicata (email, whatsapp e canali social).
2.2 La presentazione deve includere obbligatoriamente, pena inamissibilità:
- Modulo di iscrizione compilato sul sito www.filmfreeway.com.
- Una scheda informativa per tutti i film che descriva accuratamente come e quali contenuti siano stati generati con il supporto dell'IA.
- I film devono essere presentati in formato digitale compatibile con le apparecchiature di proiezione del BAIFF (DCP, ProRes, H.264/265, MP4).
- Sottotitoli in italiano in formato .SRT. I registi possono richiedere la traduzione al costo di 150€ + IVA (per corti la cui durata non superi 10min., per ogni minuto o frazione saranno addebitati 25€ + IVA)
- Un trailer con sottotitoli in italiano in formato .SRT.
Articolo 3: Costi di iscrizione
3.1 La quota di iscrizione al BAIFF è stabilita secondo le modalità previste dal sito FilmFreeway (www.filmfreeway.com) per i cortometraggi.
La quota non è rimborsabile in nessun caso.
Articolo 4: Selezione
4.1 La selezione dei film per il BAIFF avverrà a discrezione del team di programmazione del festival.
4.2 I registi saranno informati via email entro il 30 settembre qualora il loro film dovesse risultare vincitore di uno dei premi assegnati dalla giuria/comitato scientifico.
Articolo 5: Proiezione al festival
5.1 I registi selezionati devono fornire una copia digitale del loro film in alta qualità per le proiezioni del festival.
5.2 I registi sono responsabili di garantire che il loro film sia privo di problemi tecnici.
5.3 La selezione del corto al Festival non costituisce diritto acquisito alla proiezione pubblica. Anche l’eventuale richiesta da parte del BAIFF di inviare materiali tecnici, copie del film, trailer, sottotitoli, immagini, sinossi o altri contenuti promozionali e informativi non implica né garantisce l’inserimento dell’opera nel programma delle proiezioni pubbliche. L’eventuale proiezione resta a discrezione insindacabile dell’organizzazione, anche in ragione di esigenze tecniche, editoriali, logistiche o di programmazione.
Articolo 6: Permessi
6.1 I registi sono responsabili dell'ottenimento di tutti i permessi, le licenze e le liberatorie necessarie per l'utilizzo di eventuale materiale protetto da copyright contenuto nei loro film.
Articolo 7: Pubblicità
7.1 I registi selezionati concedono al BAIFF il diritto di utilizzare i loro nomi, le loro immagini e le immagini/clip dei loro film per scopi pubblicitari e promozionali del festival per la durata di 36 mesi.
Articolo 8: Responsabilità
8.1 I registi sollevano il BAIFF da qualsiasi reclamo, responsabilità, citazione danno e spesa derivante dalla proiezione del loro film.
Articolo 9: Squalifica
9.1 Il BAIFF si riserva il diritto di non ammettere o squalificare qualsiasi film che, anche successivamente, non rispetti le regole del festival o i criteri di ammissione (specifiche tecniche, etc.)
Articolo 10: Ritiro
10.1 I registi possono ritirare il loro film dal concorso in qualsiasi momento inviando una richiesta a mezzo email all’indirizzo info@baiff.eu.
Articolo 11: Accettazione
11.1 La partecipazione al BAIFF implica l'accettazione completa del presente regolamento. Il BAIFF si riserva il diritto di modificare unilateralmente tali regole in qualsiasi momento.
Articolo 12: Controversie
12.1 Eventuali controversie saranno risolte secondo la vigente normativa italiana, in conformità con l’AI ACT europeo ed il foro competente è quello di Venezia.
Articolo 13: Premi
13.1 Il BAIFF assegnerà dei premi ai film selezionati dal team di programmazione. I premi saranno annunciati durante la cerimonia di premiazione.
13.2 In nessuno caso è prevista l’assegnazione di premi in denaro.
Articolo 14: Programma delle proiezioni
14.1 Il BAIFF stabilirà in autonomia il programma delle proiezioni dei film selezionati.
Articolo 15: Partecipazione
15.1 La partecipazione in presenza dei registi al festival è fortemente incoraggiata, ma non obbligatoria ed in nessun caso pregiudicherà o costituirà vantaggio per l’assegnazione di eventuali premi/mensioni da parte della giuria o del comitato scientifico
Articolo 16: Alloggio e viaggio dei registi, produttori e troupe cinematografiche
16.1 Il BAIFF non copre a nessun titolo le spese di viaggio o alloggio ai registi, produttori e troupe cinematografiche. L'organizzazione del festival non fornisce assistenza nella ricerca degli alloggi.
Articolo 17: Riservatezza
17.1 Il BAIFF manterrà riservati tutti i film presentati e non li condividerà con terzi fino alla proclamazione dei vincitori.
17.2 Con l’iscrizione al BAIFF – Burano Artificial Intelligence Film Festival, i partecipanti autorizzano il Festival a disporre liberamente di tutto il materiale inviato (comprese opere audiovisive, sinossi, immagini, trailer, materiali promozionali e informativi), per un periodo di 36 (trentasei) mesi dalla data di ricezione, salvo diverso accordo redatto per iscritto con i singoli autori.
Tale utilizzo potrà comprendere, a titolo esemplificativo e non esaustivo, la proiezione pubblica, la diffusione su piattaforme fisiche o digitali, la comunicazione ai media, la promozione del Festival, la distribuzione e la cessione a terzi, anche a titolo gratuito o oneroso, a discrezione insindacabile dell’organizzazione.
La concessione del materiale da parte dei partecipanti è autorizzata al Festival esclusivamente a condizione che esso venga utilizzato e divulgato a titolo gratuito, in un contesto privo di finalità commerciali dirette.
Gli autori, registi o detentori dei diritti dichiarano di rinunciare a qualsiasi compenso aggiuntivo e a ogni futura rivendicazione economica o autorizzativa nei confronti del Festival relativamente agli usi sopra descritti.
Articolo 18: Feedback
18.1 Il team, la giuria e il comitato scientifico di programmazione del BAIFF non forniranno in nessun caso feedback sui film non selezionati.

P.S: la proclamazione dei vincitori avverrà almeno 15 giorni prima dello svolgimento del festival questo per:
- per consentire ai vincitori provenienti da Paesi non appartenenti all'Unione Europea di richiedere il visto per partecipare alla cerimonia di premiazione;
- perchè la giuria ha inziaito le sue valutazioni immediatamente dopo la chiusura delle iscrizioni;

Rules and deadlines for participation in the BAIFF
Burano Artificial Intelligence Film Festival

Article 1: Eligibility
1.1 Films admitted to the competition must have been completed between 01 January 2025 and 01 June 2026.
1.2 Films admitted to the competition must have been made completely or partially (minimum 25%) with the aid of AI software which must be clearly indicated, without omissions, on the entry form.
Article 2: Submission
2.1 Filmmakers must submit their films by 01 July 2026 via the FilmFreeway website (www.filmfreeway.com). Submission methods other than the one indicated (email, whatsapp and social channels) are not permitted.
2.2 The submission must compulsorily include, under penalty of ineligibility:
* A completed entry form on www.filmfreeway.com.
* An information sheet for all films accurately describing how and what content was generated with the support of AI.
* Films must be submitted in digital format compatible with BAIFF projection equipment (DCP, ProRes, H.264/265, MP4).
* Italian subtitles in .SRT format. Filmmakers may request translation at a cost of €150 + VAT (for short films lasting no more than 10min., each minute or fraction thereof will be charged €25 + VAT)
* A trailer with Italian subtitles in .SRT format.
Article 3: Entry costs
3.1 The entry fee for BAIFF is set according to the terms and conditions of the FilmFreeway website (www.filmfreeway.com) for short films.
The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Article 4: Selection
4.1 The selection of films for the BAIFF will be at the discretion of the festival's programming team.
4.2 Filmmakers will be notified by email by 30 September if their film is found to be the winner of one of the prizes awarded by the jury/scientific committee.
Article 5: Festival Screening
5.1 Selected filmmakers must provide a high-quality digital copy of their film for the festival screenings.
5.2 Filmmakers are responsible for ensuring that their film is free of technical problems.
5.3 The selection of a short film for the Festival does not constitute an acquired right to public screening. Any request by BAIFF to submit technical materials, screening copies, trailers, subtitles, images, synopses, or any other promotional or informational content shall not imply or guarantee that the work will be included in the public screening programme. Any public screening shall remain at the sole and unquestionable discretion of the Festival organisation, also in light of technical, editorial, logistical, or programming requirements.
Article 6: Permissions
6.1 Filmmakers are responsible for obtaining all necessary permits, licences and releases for the use of any copyrighted material contained in their films.
Article 7: Publicity
7.1 Selected filmmakers grant BAIFF the right to use their names, images, and images/clips or entire films for publicity and promotional purposes of the festival for a period of 36 months.
Article 8: Liability
8.1 Filmmakers release the BAIFF from all claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from the screening of their film.
Article 9: Disqualification
9.1 The BAIFF reserves the right to disallow or disqualify any film that, even at a later date, fails to comply with the festival rules or admission criteria (technical specifications, etc.).
Article 10: Withdrawal
10.1 Filmmakers may withdraw their film from the competition at any time by sending a request by email to info@baiff.eu.
Article 11: Acceptance
11.1 Participation in the BAIFF implies full acceptance of these regulations. BAIFF reserves the right to unilaterally amend these rules at any time.
Article 12: Disputes
12.1 Any disputes shall be settled in accordance with current Italian law, in compliance with the European AI ACT and the competent court of jurisdiction is Venice.
Article 13: Prizes
13.1 BAIFF will award prizes to the films selected by the programming team. The prizes will be announced during the award ceremony.
13.2 In no case will cash prizes be awarded.
Article 14: Screening Schedule
14.1 BAIFF shall determine the screening schedule for the selected films independently.
Article 15: Participation
15.1 Attendance in the presence of the filmmakers at the festival is strongly encouraged but not compulsory and under no circumstances will it prejudice or be an advantage for the awarding of any prizes/prizes by the jury or the scientific committee
Article 16: Accommodation and travel for filmmakers, producers and film crews
16.1 BAIFF does not cover or reimburse travel and subsistence expenses for directors, producers and film crews. The festival organisers do not assist in finding accommodation.
Article 17: Confidentiality
17.1 The BAIFF will keep all submitted films confidential and will not share them with third parties.
17.2 By submitting their work to BAIFF – Burano Artificial Intelligence Film Festival, participants authorize the Festival to freely use all submitted materials (including audiovisual works, synopses, images, trailers, promotional and informational content) for a period of 36 (thirty) months from the date of receipt, unless otherwise agreed in writing with the individual authors.
Such use may include, by way of example and not limitation, public screenings, distribution via physical or digital platforms, communication to the media, promotion of the Festival, disposal, and transfer to third parties, whether free of charge or for consideration, at the sole discretion of the Festival's organizers.
The authorization to use the submitted materials is granted to the Festival exclusively on the condition that such materials are used and disseminated free of charge, in a non-commercial context.
Authors, directors, or rights holders waive any additional compensation and any future economic or authorization claims against the Festival in relation to the uses described above.
Article 18: Feedback
18.1The BAIFF team, jury, and scientific programming committee will under no circumstances provide feedback on non-selected films.

P.S.: The announcement of the winners will take place at least 15 days before the festival takes place in order to:
- allow winners from non-EU countries to apply for a visa to attend the award ceremony; - because the jury started its evaluations immediately after the closing of entries.

  • BAIFF is the first festival in Europe focusing on films made with Artificial Intelligence and celebrated its third edition this year. I was very proud to be selected and felt truly welcome as a guest. The festival is organized by a team of passionate people and takes place in a stunning location in the historic city of Venice. BAIFF is highly recommended, and I hope to return next year with new work.
