From October 14th to 17th 2023 B3 Festival of the Moving Image invites 25 emerging talents from the field of moving images to take part in an intense four-day training programme.

They will get the chance to work with renowned international professionals from myriad areas of the media and creative industries.

During workshops and masterclasses, participants will meet other creatives and work in-depth on their submitted projects.

The three best HessenLab projects will be given awards. The prize fund is as follows:

First prize:€ 1.000
Second prize:€ 500
Third prize: € 500

Awards will be presented on Tuesday October 17th, 2023. The programme will be accompanied by screenings, showcases and networking events and participants will receive an accreditation for the entire B3 2023 Festival, which will run from October 14 - 22.

They will also be invited to visit the Frankfurter Buchmesse on the 18th. B3 will provide accomodation for participants for the duration of the HessenLab programme. B3 HessenLab is aimed at international creatives, with the whole programme being held in English.

B3 HessenLab is part of the B3 TALENT FORUM: An initiative of B3 in cooperation with HessenFilm und Medien GmbH. B3 Talent Forum is a platform to promote up-and-coming talents. It is a space for upcoming creatives from all audiovisual fields. The programme consists of screenings, showcases, and networking events, combined with a showroom of local and international works from all fields of creative media. It is a great opportunity to connect with fellow creative minds, exchange ideas, give inspiration, or get inspired.

B3 FESTIVAL OF THE MOVING IMAGE:

B3 2023 will take place from the 14th to the 22nd of October 2023 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
It is an international moving image festival featuring film screenings, a conference program, art exhibitions, and a competition program with an award ceremony. The sectors and topics include film, art, VR/XR, AI, and their cross-media interfaces, with a view towards the status quo that moves the sectors and into a changing future. The target groups are professionals and young talents from the creative and media industries, politics, and science, as well as the interested public. The B3 main focus is on storytelling. Recent B3 honorary laureates include Laurie Anderson (musician and artist), Steve McQueen (director and artist), Brian Eno (musician and artist), Jonas Mekas (media artist), Anne Imhof (artist), Willem Dafoe (actor and director), Oliver Stone (director and writer), and Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne (writers and directors).
Our major strategic partners include Film London and the Frankfurt Book Fair.

B3 HESSENLAB - CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

-Applicants must have published an audio-visual work before (in the field of either film, art, VR / AR or games)
-You have to apply with an audio-visual project that is still in development (preferably at an early stage)
-Thesis projects from universities are not eligible for entry
- Applicants must not be enrolled at a university
-Submissions may be made in the form of project outlines, scripts, screenplays and the like
-It is possible to apply as a group
-All B3 HessenLab participants must pay a fee of 100€ (the fee is only to be paid once your project gets selected)
-B3 will not cover any travel expenses but will provide accomodation in one of our partnering hotels for the duration of the programme (14th - 17th)
