Athanasios Bousios– Visual Artist | Animation Creator

Athanasios Bousios was born in 1954 in a village in northern Greece and grew up in the city of Larissa. At the age of eleven, he began painting, inspired by his new urban environment which awakened his natural creativity. During his school years, his art teacher encouraged him to present his work to the public.

He studied at the Pedagogical Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and worked for several decades as a primary school teacher, also teaching art classes. In 1998, he established an innovative painting workshop in a public school in Thessaloniki, with a focus on creating 2D animation based on student drawings.

His artistic work centers on the human element and its capacity for inner clarity and resilience, often blending nature with modern technology. In recent years, he has been actively engaged in digital art and video art, using tools such as Photoshop, Sketchbook, FlipaClip, and Vector Motion.

2023 – First Short Animation Film
In 2023, together with his daughter Vera Bousiou (director), he completed his first short 2D animation film titled “The Lady of Abundance” (duration: 34 minutes). He was responsible for the landscape design and animation sequences. The film reflects his long-standing experience in visual storytelling and experimental animation.
