We are a young event and are working to develop our festival. Our goal is to platform an in person event in the coming years.

Awards & Prizes

To acknowledge the talent and innovation showcased in these films we're proud to present a series of awards. Nominated films will be showcased on our website (at the sole permission of the submitter), reaching an audience while celebrating the ingenuity of their creators.

To celebrate this accomplishment every film that has been nominated will be presented with a professionally printed certificate. Additionally, the exceptional winners will be honoured with a trophy symbolising their unmatched commitment and foresight in shaping the future of the film industry. Awards will be issue as follows:

Best Short Award - Narrative Fiction (Trophy / Laurel);
Best Short Award - Documentary (Trophy / Laurel);

Nominations/Selections - Certificate and Laurel;

Special Mentions - Laurels.

Rules & Terms

1. The event is open to everyone at all ages and all genres and budgets;
2. Films may have been produced in any location worldwide and in any language;
3. Films containing extremism, propaganda or gratuitous adult content are not accepted;
4. Films with primarily AI generated content (including music, characters or graphics) are NOT currently accepted (discretion will be applied for films that are supplemented with AI tools);
5. Non-English language films MUST include embedded (baked in) English subtitles;
6. Films completed on or after 1 January 2023 are eligible for consideration;
7. Maximum length of films must be 15 minutes excluding titles and credits;
8. Films submitted are permitted to have already been screened in other festivals or already available online;
9. Entrants must have legal authority over the films - this includes licences to use music, artwork and content;
10. Nominated and winning films will be screened for a short limited time on our website - at the sole permission of the submitter;
11. Astonishing Narratives reserves the right to use excerpts from selections, trailers, posters and screenshots for marketing and promotional purposes;
12. There are no additional screening fees beyond the submission fee;
13. Filmmakers are permitted to submit more than one film, however, each title must be a separate submission;
14. Astonishing Narratives reserves the right to amend the event date if unforeseen circumstances occur;
15. Attendees must adhere to a respectful and inclusive manner, promoting a safe and welcoming environment for everyone;
16. The decisions of the judges are final;
