Asia International Film Week is a dynamic platform dedicated to fostering cultural exchange across Asia through cinema. Evolving from the original Asia Film Market Exhibition, the event was officially rebranded in its third edition, expanding to include the International Competition, Asia Competition, and a robust Asia Film Market. Since then, it has toured in countries such as Thailand, Singapore, and China, and continues to connect emerging voices with global audiences and industry networks. From 2025 onwards, all outstanding works will be featured at the 79th Cannes Film Festival,Chinese events in Cannes

The festival is structured around four main curatorial sections: International Panorama, Focus on Asia, New Generation, and Retrospective. Each section highlights bold, diverse, and thought-provoking works from around the world — from auteur cinema to debut features, from cultural documentaries to formally innovative shorts.

In its 5th edition, the festival featured a retrospective of Wim Wenders’ early works, selected features from the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, and the Global AI Short Film Showcase in collaboration with AI ARTIST. The 6th edition will return in May, continuing its mission to spotlight creative storytelling and cinematic innovation.

Our programming focuses on a wide range of themes:Cultural expression and heritage、Individual experience and identity、Social observation and contemporary issues、Formal innovation and cinematic language、Emerging filmmakers and new voices、Environmental and ecological perspectives、Historical reflection and collective memory、Gender expression and the female gaze、Cross-cultural dialogue and global resonance、Intimate stories with expansive social insight.
