Ashraf Nahlous (b. January 31, 2001, Syria) is a Dubai-based award-winning writer and director recognized for bold, dialogue-driven storytelling across narrative film, branded content, and vertical micro drama.
His short film This Is Love Too won Best Cinematography at the Film Society Awards (2025), Best Actor at Paramount's We Create Drama Festival, and was nominated for Best Script, earning praise for its emotional intensity and tight performances. The film was also featured in Khaleej Times and led to an interview on Met Radio’s Morning Mixtape. It has since gained international recognition, named a Finalist at BHP’s #ScreenDatNight Short Film Competition and a Nominee at the NanoCon International Film Festival (NIFF).
Ashraf made his directorial debut with Are You the Rat?, a neo-noir gangster short exploring loyalty and deception in a high-stakes interrogation. The film serves as a proof-of-concept for his upcoming feature Yet... Another Gangster Movie. He also created The Dubai Tapes, a branded content series featuring seven cinematic skits shot over two days with a 20+ person cast and crew.
In addition, Ashraf is currently developing Kingston, a high-concept vertical micro drama series described as Succession meets Suits, marking one of the first ambitious MENA projects designed specifically for the mobile-first audience.
Beyond traditional film, he wrote the narrative for Ocean Quest VR, an award-winning immersive experience commissioned by the University of Salford. The project won Excellence in Virtual Reality (MediaCity UK) and was Highly Commended at the Signature Awards 2025.
He continues to expand his slate with projects including The Man Who Knows Everyone, a stylized short blending magical realism and direct address, and Dear Devil, Hope You're Doing Well, a non-linear psychological courtroom drama submitted to the Red Sea Souk for development consideration.
