Since 2013, Artists & Beers has been bringing filmmakers and film lovers together in a relaxed, "no-frills" setting that celebrates independent cinema. Founded by film festival programmer Chip Parham and hosted by filmmakers Nancy Pop and Curran Banach, the series has supported hundreds of local filmmakers (from students to seasoned pros) over its 13-year run.

Each month, we screen a handpicked mix of shorts, music videos, and short docs across all genres. Screenings are followed by lively Q&As, giving audiences and artists the chance to connect, share ideas, and spark new collaborations.

Our current home is "All Night Skate" in Ocean Hill, Brooklyn–one of the top 10 bars in the country, where we regularly pack the house with filmmakers, neighbors, and film fans alike.

The best part? It’s completely free and open to the public. Whether you’re here to screen your work, discover new voices, or just enjoy a great night out, Artists & Beers is a community where cinema and conversation thrive.

1.) CELEBRATING LOCAL TALENT: To ensure an enriching experience for our audience, we kindly request that at least one member of the filmmaking team be an NYC local and present at the screening to partake in the engaging Q&A session.

2.) A PLATFORM FOR THE ASPIRING AND ESTABLISHED ARTIST: While we receive numerous submissions from exceptional filmmakers, please note that acceptance into Artists & Beers is not guaranteed. We carefully curate each selection to offer a diverse and high-quality cinematic showcase.

3.) USAGE & PERMISSION: By submitting your remarkable film to Artists & Beers, you grant us the permission to use its name and captivating imagery for promotional purposes. This helps us spread the word about the event and highlight the incredible talent we feature.

4.) LIMITATIONS: To ensure an immersive and captivating screening experience, films submitted should have a maximum duration of 20 minutes. This allows us to accommodate a variety of compelling works and engage our audience in a vibrant mix of storytelling.

5.) SCHEDULING: While we strive to showcase all accepted films, please understand that we cannot guarantee the exact screening date. Rest assured, every selected filmmaker will have their moment in the spotlight during our series. If selected we will reach out to you via e-mail to decide on your screening month.

6.) RE-SUBMITTING: Please do NOT resubmit your film; once it has been submitted it will be considered for all months of the screening series! If you've been accepted into one of our season deadlines but can no longer make it, you may roll over into one of the following seasons.

7.) NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Filmmakers will be notified of their acceptance within 3 weeks of submitting. Upon acceptance we will communicate about the ideal screening date for you and your film.
