Born and raised in Calcutta, Arkava Banerjee graduated with a degree in computer engineering before deciding to pursue filmmaking professionally. Keen to be an active participant in the independent filmmaking scene in India, he interned at Overdose, helmed by filmmaker Kaushik Mukherjee (Q), working on the independent feature ‘Tasher Desh’ (The Land of Cards). Recognizing the need for a more cohesive film education, he applied to Whistling Woods International and earned a scholarship for the two-year film-making program, graduating with a diploma in film editing at Whistling Woods International. He joined Shree Venkatesh Films (SVF) as a director and editor and was instrumental in the production of hugely popular branded content, music videos and web shows for Hoichoi (the most definitive OTT for Bengali content globally).
His documentary ‘Vinu:The Elephant Keeper’ was officially screened at the ‘Cleveland International Film Festival’, USA. His horror short “Mejda: The Ghost Hunter” was well received at festivals and is streaming on Pocket Films.
He is currently based in Bangalore and works as a Video Producer and Series Director for LILA Games, a California based gaming studio working out of Bangalore.
