Arielle Friedman (she/her) is a first generation Colombian-American filmmaker based in NYC. Arielle spent five years as a professional ballerina before enrolling in Columbia University to pursue a degree in Film & Media Studies. Arielle then co-founded Ser Nocturna, a Latinx-led production company specializing in narrative short films, documentaries, music videos, and feature films.
Under her production banner, Arielle has produced over 10 award-winning narrative short films that have gone on to screen at festivals such as: Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, Palm Springs International Shorts Fest, HollyShorts, Aspen Film Festival, Frameline, NewFest, Woodstock Filmfestival, Cleveland International Film Festival, and ReelAbilities, among others. Her work has also been featured on digital platforms such as IndieWire, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, The Los Angeles Times, No Film School, Short of the Week, and a forthcoming Vimeo Staff Pick.
The most recent short film she produced and acted in, "Unholy" had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2025 and was also an official selection of SXSW, among others. Arielle also starred in and produced the comedy horror short “Breadwinner” that recently screened at the Oscar Qualifying festival HollyShorts. Arielle had her feature film acting debut in “Good Boy” which premiered at SXSW in 2025 and comes out in theaters nationwide on October 3rd. She also produced the short film “Kasbi,” which had its world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, was a selection of NewFest and the Frameline Film Festival where it won the Colin Higgins Grant, and was also featured on Short of the Week. She has produced music videos for artists such as Sarah Kinsley and Ella Hunt, along with clients at Atlantic Records, Verve Forecast, and Mischief Management. She is currently in development for multiple feature films under her production company banner.
