I'm a solo performer turned writer who is focused on making stories that reflect and validate the South Asian-American experience. Specifically, I want to depict the often-overlooked micro-aggressions that impact our identity and relationships.
Anu Bhatt (Co-Director, Writer, Actor, Editor) is an actor, writer and polyglot based out of San Diego, CA. Her work focuses on the "balancing act" of growing up South Asian in the United States. Anu’s autobiographical one-woman show Hollow/Wave, navigating her journey through sexual trauma and depression, premiered in Chicago in 2018 and later off-Broadway at the United Solo Theatre Festival in 2019.
Anu received her M.F.A. in Acting from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, and spent nine years acting in Chicago. Theatre credits include Steppenwolf, Chicago Shakespeare, TimeLine Theatre, Silk Road Rising and Northlight Theatre, among others. TV credits include: Chicago Fire, Chicago Med (NBC) and Electric Dreams, opposite Terrence Howard (Amazon).
Anu's other passion is learning and teaching languages! She received her B.A. in Linguistics from U.C. Berkeley and completed her Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate at UCSD during the pandemic. She speaks French fluently and is currently learning Korean due to her love of BTS.
AutoCorrect is her first work for the screen.
