Director/Writer Anton Burek, 29, is an independent filmmaker and TV/Film actor (Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Journal for Jordan, Disney+). He models for brand events and promotions, and is a private party magician and balloon twister entertainer around the boroughs with #TheColorCrew_NYC.
A graduate of Manhattanville College, NY (2017), Burek has a BA in theater. “Megan’s Nightmare” is a one-hour Expressionist Dream Play that was well-received at a staged reading in Brooklyn. Originally from Chicago, Anton grew up in Eugene, Oregon. There, he was cast in local theater productions including Shakespeare in the Park. He is fluent and literate in Japanese.
His goal is to bring international films from the Balkans to his vibrant neighborhood in Long Island City/Sunnyside, Queens New York. “Films get people talking, which is the humanist part. Discussion. Audiences can agree or disagree with aspects of characters, plot, or storyline. Screening provocative works is a necessary and important part of sharing perspectives and culture with low risk,” says Burek.
