Dedicated to the exhibition and nurturing of diverse forms of media art, Antimatter is one of the premier showcases of experimentation in film, video, audio and emerging timebased forms. Encompassing screenings, installations, performances and media hybrids, Antimatter provides a noncompetitive setting in Victoria, British Columbia, free from commercial and industry agendas.

Since 1998, the quality and creativity of its programming, commitment to audience development, and respect for artists and their work have made Antimatter one of the most important media arts events in Canada, and the world.

The 25th annual Antimatter runs October 20 to 30, 2022.

Productions must be independently produced, with the maker retaining complete editorial control and copyright. Productions must have been completed after January 1, 2020. Selected works can be screened from 16mm, Super 8 or Quicktime file.

Submission of an entry indicates acceptance of all regulations, guarantee that a screening copy in the format specified will be made available for the dates of the event, and authorization to publicly exhibit the work at Antimatter 2022. If screening copy is to be provided by a distributor or agent then entry must be submitted by that distributor/agent, along with any criteria or conditions.

As in 2020 and 2021, Antimatter 2022 is planned as a hybrid IRL/online event: nightly in-person screenings at Deluge Contemporary Art followed by online access to each program for 24 hours the next day.

In addition to single channel works for screening programs we invite proposals for media-based performance and installation projects.

I couldn't attend unfortunately because of the pandemic, but their communication, marketing, and the overall quality of the festival looked very professional. Thank you for featuring my film.

I couldn’t attend this year (but have previously), so can happily attest that Antimatter is a top festival that I hold in the highest esteem. Because… they care, show a great selection of work, take risks, and are really respectful of filmmakers - and their audiences, too.
They’re also ultra well organised + friendly too! Todd and Deborah have crafted a really quite remarkable festival over the years, and even in these strange times are still going from strength to strength.

What a truly great festival. I am so honored to have my short film, DREAMING IN ASPECT RATIO play at Antimatter, both in the festival and as an installation at Deluge Art Gallery. Superb catalog and programming. Everything is handled so well and the curation is diverse and compelling viewing all around. I am so thankful to Deborah de Boer and Todd Eacrett (as well as Team Antimatter) for supporting personal queer experimental and avant-garde filmmaking. Thank you all and also thanks to all the other participating artists! Antimatter [Media Art] is a top-notch arthouse festival!

Great festival with a wonderful team. Communication was excellent and they did a great job producing a hybrid online/in-person festival. Great selection of films as well!
