Since 2016, AnimaPIX is the animation festival on Pico island, Azores. From illustrated books, storytelling, street animation to big screen presentations of shorts and feature-length films - it´s all about ANIMATION.
Films with no spoken language have the best chance to be a part of the international section of the festival; or, your film must have English or Portuguese language or subtitles in one of those languages embedded into the film.

Awards & Prizes

Prémio AnimaPIX (Nacional PT) - only portuguese productions; winner chosen by jury lead by Abi Feijó & Regina Pessoa;
Audience Awards - all films screened qualify for audience favourite awards;
Official Selection - chosen by the artistic director; all films screened receive festival laurel.

Rules & Terms

MiratecArts is the organization that presents the AnimaPIX Festival. MiratecArts projects and festivals are open to all. Rules are simple. You submit, you have a chance to be showcased at the festival with listings on the web and the printed program magazine. Listings will be announced online, on the festival page, the month prior to event.

Films arrive at the festival without cost via email link to a downloadable platform, with your film and contact details.

By submitting, the artist/filmmaker/producer is giving rights to MiratecArts and its partners to present the film at the festival without any further costs or licences. www.miratecarts.com

    O AnimaPix foi uma experiência inesquecível. Ter a oportunidade de visitar os Açores, especificamente a Ilha do Pico, e por extensão a do Faial, já garantiu a minha presença no festival. Ter a oportunidade de mostrar o meu filme numa sala com amigos do ramo da animação, é outra coisa, impossível de descrever. O Terry Costa fez um esforço hercúleo em trazer alguns dos maiores artistas da animação portuguesa e os seus maiores difusores, para o seu humilde festival, e ainda assim deu destaque ao meu filme e à minha presença, como se eu estivesse em pé de igualdade para com os profissionais. E isso é algo que vai ficar comigo para o resto dos meus dias.
    As visitas guiadas aos museus e casas de artesãos da terra, juntamente com as tertúlias ao almoço e jantar, enriquecem esta viagem que valeu 100% a pena, independentemente do mau tempo.
    Muito obrigado ao Terry, um feliz 10º aniversário ao AnimaPix, e esperemos mais encontros, quer nos Açores ou no continente, no futuro próximo.
