Born and Raised in Compton California, Aneesah Dowd is apart of the first generation in her family to recieve an education past high school. She grew up with a love for cinema - her mother introduced her to great classical films and filmmakers. Some of her biggest inspirations include, Hype Williams, Spike Lee, John Singleton, and Ava DuVernay.
After high school she traveled to Hawaii where she studied performing arts in theater, dance, and music. With the skills and appreciation for art she gained at the University of Hawaii she made her way back to Los Angeles where she received a degree at Columbia College Hollywood - BFA: Cinema and Television in 2018.
She has a passion for documentaries about the Black American experience, thus "Blended" was created. She recently completed her second documentary “Choices” about homophobia in the Black community from the perspective of the Black male. She is currently in the pre-production process for her third documentary on mental health in the Black community from the perspective of the Black woman.
