The author was born in Cyprus during a revolution against the island’s occupiers. She grew up in the troubled peace that followed—until the invasion that displaced 200,000 people. Unlike the characters in her stories, she did not take to the stars; instead, she immigrated to the U.S., where she earned her Ph.D. in science. In her scientific research, she designed and patented more than 50 inventions aimed at reducing vehicle weight and, consequently, emissions.

Her narratives often explore themes of war and transformation, blending elements of science fiction and adult fantasy with the paranormal, horror, and romance. Her stories often feature queer and polyamorous relationships, and she always incorporates humor. She has received numerous accolades from film festivals, with 5 of her projects ranking among the top 9 on Coverfly's Red List, and 4 reaching No. 1 in their genres.
