Andrey Kasay is an artist hailing from the Russian Far East. In 2006, he moved to Moscow along with his musical band NRKTK (2007-2012). In a uniquely ironic form, the band expressed its attitude towards problems the Russian society is facing: from local “age-related” self-determination crisis to broader ones that concern economic and social institutions. Drawing posters for NRKTK, Kasay begins to develop his graphic language that conveys the band’s ethical position. The spectacular detail-dense images and absurd situations they depict are in fact the author’s ironic and unerring commentary on topics like society’s dependence on entertainment, stereotypical and limited thinking, antisocial nature of the urban environment, and the overall implanting of corporate values.
