Andrew Gillingham is a filmmaker and actor currently based on the unceded Traditional Lands and Waters of the Musqeuam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Wautuh First Nations, where he studied filmmaking at Simon Fraser University from 2009-2014.
Since then Andrew has doggedly pursued the creation of films that bend the genres of magical realism and dramatic comedy. His work uses honesty and humour to disarm the audience, allowing for deeper themes and metaphors to resonate. His style is a blend of expressionistic realism and melodramatic comedy that is often inspired from personal and lived experiences.
His most celebrated short, "Prawn" has played at multiple film festivals including Raindance Film Festival, and Vancouver International Film Festival among others and was acquired and distributed by Premium Films. He recently finished his first two funded shorts, "Matthew's House" and "Cups" and is in development on his first feature, "In Like a Lamb, Out Like a Lion".
As an actor, Andrew has studied with Ben Ratner, Andrew McIlroy, and Deb Podowski. His credits include The Flash, No Tomorrow, and The Good Doctor. He is represented by Eleven Talent Management and is a UBCP/ACTRA member.
