Andrea started her career as an actress and appeared in Neil Simon’s Chapter Two on Broadway; Uncle Vania, The Good Doctor, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (UCLA); Lovers and Other Strangers (Pasadena Dinner Theater). She was a founding member of Café La Mama (L.A.) and the improvisational theater group, The Groundlings (L.A). Adler was a member of New Playwrights (Vanguard Theater (L.A.) and appeared in the TV shows: Police Woman, The Bob Newhart Show, Executive Suite, Steubenville, and Bronx. Adler also taught improv at the Comedy Store (L.A) and to children of celebrities in Las Vegas.
She also co-wrote and directed 3 videos for the American Film Institute.
While a journalist in Monticello, New York, Andrea was profoundly affected by three teen suicides that occurred at a local high school. In response, she wrote a grant and beat out every not-for-profit and school in three counties, and received funding from Senator Cook to create The Off-Off Main Street Theater Company dedicated to works by, for, and about teenagers and the challenges they face. She produced and directed the company successfully for eight years.
She also presented improv workshops to Drug and Alcohol facilities in upstate New York, to GEMS (Girls Educational and Mentoring Services) an organization that empowers young women who have experienced sexual exploitation and to The Fortune Society, a successful reentry facility offered to men and women who have been incarcerated. These interactive workshops supported the development of a productive, sustainable future for these populations.
She created and directed the theatrical workshop Ignite Your Genius for companies in Silicon Valley and presented her Theater Master Classes to High School students in Thousand Oaks, CA. Her class focused on the combination of scene study and Improv.
Last year Andrea wrote, directed & produced “Old-Fashioned, Naughty, Everything: A Glimpse of Emily Dickinson,” a one-woman show based exclusively on Emily’s poetry and letters, now on tour. It was performed at the Marsh Theater in San Francisco and the Berkeley City Club (now touring).
Adler studied with Stella Adler, Sherman Marks, and Lee Grant at the Actors Studio in NYC.
Andrea’s novel, Pushing Upward won the Los Angeles Book Festival Award and Hay House “Pick of the Month.” She also wrote the screenplay based on her book with Gerald DiPego (Phenomenon, Message in a Bottle, Angel Eyes, Instinct, The Forgotten, etc.,) now being pitched to producers.

"The way you do one thing is how you do everything." I don't remember.
“When I run after what I think I want, my days are a furnace of stress and anxiety; if I sit in my own place of patience, what I need flows to me, and without pain. From this, I understand that what I want also wants me, is looking for me and attracting me. There is a great secret here for anyone who can grasp it.” Rumi
“Move toward what you want – not toward what you don’t want”
Marshall Thurber
Work in the invisible world at least as hard as you do in the visible. RUMI
