Originally from New Orleans , I traveled and lived as a drifter for 4 years and then settled in NYC. During the pandemic it dawned on me that I too can make a film. I was diagnosed with autism at 15 and often hear what autistic people can and can not do. I now set out to prove we can do more than expected of us. Often when the topic of diversity come up disabled people are left out. My short film "Shithole Country" is made only by autistic people. The a actor "Christopher Lucka" is also autistic.
In NYC, I actively take part in the BLM movement, mutual aid events and other forms of activism. I want to make films that make a statement of something far larger than myself. I want to tell the stories of marginalized, oppressed and working class people
I feel with the current state of the world , we need more films that showcase people most harmed by the current system. As a person who faces ableism on a daily basis, i understand how it feels to be marginalized for being disabled. I see very little on openly autistic filmmakers. Though being open about it is not comfortable and can open me up for judgment , I feel I must do it for other autistic people .
For all my films, I plan to write and direct and shoot. I have plans for more shorts and a feature length documentary showcasing working class struggle around the country. I made Shithole country on no budget at all.
