Alliance of Women Filmmakers scriptwriting competition serves to spotlights writers creating unique and powerful roles for women. This script competition was established to further the mission of Alliance of Women Filmmakers to help advance the careers of writers and filmmakers creating diverse and powerful screen images of women from all ethnicities.

Alliance of Women Filmmakers was established 16 years ago with a goal to increase opportunities for women filmmakers. The organization produces The Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival (www.lawomensfest.com) which showcases hundreds of films made by women filmmakers worldwide who share the same passion for creating powerful screen images of women.

Now going into its ninth year, the script competition and festival continue to celebrate talented women writers and filmmakers who share their diverse stories and create powerful women characters.

There will be two wining screenwriters; a feature length script winner and a short script (15-20 pages) winner.

The feature length winning screenwriter will receive $500 cash in addition to a sponsored gift package valued at $500.

The short script winning screenwriter will receive $250 cash in addition to a sponsored gift package valued at $500.

Scripts can either be feature length or short and written in English. Screenplays must be in 12 point courier font.

All Screenplays must include one title page with contact information and a 50-100 synopsis. Contact information should not appear anywhere else in the script.

No revisions will be accepted after submissions.

Screenplays must not have been produced, optioned, or currently have negotiations pending.

Writers can enter more than one screenplay however, each script must be accompanied by a separate entry form and entry fee.

Screenplays will not be returned; it is the writer's responsibility to retain an original copy.
