Alex Bijan Zandi is an Iranian-American filmmaker based in Brooklyn. With vulnerability and tenderness, his work explores social issues and embodies the porousness of memory, dreams, and lived experience.
Zandi’s films have screened internationally at festivals including Montclair (Jury Prize Nomination), Florida, Maryland, Urbanworld, and Amsterdam, where he received the Best Experimental Film Award. He was a 2023–2025 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow, a 2024 BendFilm: Basecamp Fellow, and a participant in the 2022 Reykjavík Film Festival Talent Lab.
He received an MFA from Bard College, where he was awarded the Video Fellowship, and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis, where he received the Howard Nemerov Prize for Poetry. His screenwriting has been recognized by the MACRO x Black List Feature Screenwriter Incubator and Stowe Story Labs. His work has also been exhibited at Abrons Art Center, Knockdown Center, and art galleries internationally.
