Alessandro Zonin began his professional activity in 1986, at the age of 22, as a cameraman in a local TV station in his hometown, after completion of classical studies. He soon made himself known for his creative flair and his passionate technical competence, so much so that he aroused the interest of numerous Italian production companies. In the two-year period 1988-1989 he attended the "Ipotesi Cinema" film institute directed by famous Italian film director Ermanno Olmi, under the guidance of Olmi himself and Mario Brenta; in the same period he attended the DAMS University in Bologna. In 1990 he felt the need to improve his knowledge on Cinematography and with this goal in mind he moved to the USA to attend master classes with Award Winning mentors. He thus became a student of Oscar winner Vilmos Zsigmond ASC (The Huntsman-Third-Type Close Encounters-The Witches of Eastwick-Sugarland Express-The Rose-Black Dahlia), Oscar winner Billy Williams BSC (The Wind and the Lion-Gandhi-On Golden Lake) and Rob Draper ACS (The Spiftfire grill-Tales from the darkside-Dr. Giggles). When his experience in the U.S. came to an end, he returned to Italy and carried out his activity as Director of Photography, particulary in the advertising business. His great passion, however, remains cinema: he’s the cinematographer of many long and short feature films for directors such as Max Croci, Beniamino Catena, Paolo Doppieri, Federico Micali, Giancarlo Marinelli, Jerry Calà, Alberto Rizzi among many others. In the past several years he has also devoted himself to writing plots and screenplays, sometimes moving into the territory of directing.
