Born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, Ahmet Yazman is a true believer in the free spirit, grounded in his long-standing practices of Sufism, Yoga, Meditation, and Music.
He studied art at Mimar Sinan University’s Faculty of Film and Television, graduating in Screenwriting and Film Directing, and later earned a master’s degree in Art History and Museum Science. He refined his craft working as an assistant director on feature films, and as a producer/director for an arts-focused television program. After graduating, he founded his own production company, specializing in TV commercials. Since September 2005, he has stepped away from commercial work to focus solely on his personal creative projects.
In 2007, he directed a 13-episode television series exploring Anatolian mythology, religions, and esoteric traditions.
His 2010 documentary, Göbeklitepe – The First Temple of the World, was screened at film festivals around the globe, including Cinema Verite (Iran), GZDocs (China), Sitges (Spain), the Golden Orange and Istanbul Film Festivals (Turkey), and received the “Best Educational Documentary” award at the TAC Festival (USA).
Alongside his filmmaking career, Ahmet co-founded a retreat center on Mount Ida (Kazdağları, in northwestern Turkey), dedicated to Yoga and Meditation. He is also a co-founder of BiR (http://www.bir.one), an on-demand video platform that supports personal growth through mind, body, and soul practices.
He later married his Iranian-born Canadian wife, and together they spent three years creating the documentary The Medicine Men of the River People. The film is a deeply personal journey into the ancestral healing traditions of the Shipibo plant doctors along the Ucayali River in the Peruvian Amazon.
Driven by years of symbolic and archaeological research, he regularly gives seminars and webinars on the 12,000-year-old wisdom traditions of Anatolia. His work continues to bridge the ancient and the modern, inviting others to reconnect with sacred knowledge, inner healing, and the stories that shape our human journey.
