Ahmed Maged is an Egyptian-Italian filmmaker and video journalist whose work focuses on culture and history. Educated in London, he began his career making short documentaries for Egyptian media outlets, exploring the intersection of Egypt’s rich history and contemporary narratives. In 2022, he directed Greening Egypt, an award-winning short documentary on the country’s environmental community and its efforts to combat ecological crises.
In 2025, he made his feature directorial debut with Wayfarer, a narrative film three years in the making that explores Egypt’s historical and cultural landscape within a world shaped by conflict and decline. The film was developed in parallel with his ongoing feature documentary What Remains, currently in production, which traces Egypt’s fading heritage through rare archives and intergenerational voices. Wayfarer reflects his broader commitment to telling culturally resonant stories rooted in the country’s past and evolving identity.
