Ahmed Deeb is a Palestinian filmmaker and award-winning photojournalist based in Istanbul. Originally from Gaza, he studied Radio and Television at Al-Aqsa University and has spent over a decade documenting major political events, conflicts, and human rights issues across the Middle East and Europe.
His work blends journalistic urgency with cinematic intimacy, earning recognition from leading international institutions. He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2016, won the United Nations Correspondents Association Award in 2013, and was named the third best news photographer worldwide in 2011 by the Thomson Foundation. His short films and visual reporting have garnered international acclaim for their depth, courage, and emotional resonance.
Deeb’s work has appeared in major outlets including ARTE TV, Al Jazeera English, Euronews, RTL, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and AFP. As both director and photographer, he brings a uniquely personal perspective to stories from the region—rooted in lived experience and an unwavering commitment to human dignity.
His latest work, Farfour: A War Diary from Gaza, is his most personal yet. Co-directed from exile in Istanbul in collaboration with a filmmaker on the ground in Gaza, the short documentary is an intimate chronicle of survival, loss, and resilience under siege.
