Eligibility
The Afromeric Award of Excellence and Film Festival welcomes submissions from filmmakers worldwide. Films must reflect creativity, originality, and artistic storytelling that align with the festivalโ€™s theme โ€” โ€œAfrican stories from African and Diaspora perspectives.โ€

Subtitles
All non-English films must include English subtitles for screening consideration.

Categories
Films may be submitted into one or more categories including Short Film, Feature Film, Documentary, Animation, Student Film, and Experimental Film.

Entry Format
Submissions must be made exclusively through FilmFreeway in digital format (HD or higher). Physical copies will not be accepted.

Completion Date
Films completed after January 1, 2021 are eligible for submission.

Premiere Status
The festival accepts both premiere and previously screened films, even if they have been distributed widely or released online for free viewing.

Selection Process
All films will be reviewed by a professional selection committee. Official selections will be notified via FilmFreeway and published on the festivalโ€™s official platforms.

Screening Rights
By submitting, filmmakers grant the festival the non-exclusive right to screen their film during the festival dates and use clips or stills for promotional purposes.

Awards & Recognition
Winners will be announced at the Afromeric Award of Excellence Gala Night in Baltimore, Maryland. Trophies, laurels, and certificates will be presented to the winners and official nominees.

Submission Fees
Submission fees are non-refundable and must be paid at the time of entry through FilmFreeway.

Judging Criteria
Films will be judged based on storytelling, direction, creativity, technical quality, performance, and overall impact.

Festival Attendance
Attendance at the festival is encouraged but not mandatory. Selected filmmakers may be invited for Q&A sessions, panels, and media features.

Rights & Ownership
Filmmakers retain full ownership of their works. The festival does not claim any rights beyond screening and promotion within the context of the event.
