VISION
The Afrika Filmfestival aims to provide a platform for African cinema and Afro-descendant filmmakers. Starting from the observation that perspectives on Africa are too often one-sided, the Africa Film Festival works to challenge clichés and broaden horizons. AFF curates its program with curiosity and critical reflection, combining surprise, information, and imagination. Through cinema, AFF seeks to connect people, worlds, and the images that shape them.
MISSION
The Afrika Filmfestival screens, promotes, and distributes a wide range of films that both inspire and inform. AFF embraces the principles of diversity of voices in its programming of films from the African continent and by Afro-descendant filmmakers. Rooted in Leuven, AFF considers the city its home base but does not limit itself to this region. AFF works in collaboration with a wide range of partners, including international film festivals, filmmakers, cultural mediators, and art lovers. Together, they build sustainable exchanges and programming that present and represent in a critical and meaningful way.
