Aeman Ali Afzal is a British Pakistani director, cinematographer and producer from Lancashire, UK, and the founder of This Is TAE, a production company specialising in cinematic commercial, narrative and socially driven filmmaking.
Beginning his filmmaking journey at a young age with a second hand camera and a passion for storytelling, Aeman built his career independently through years of hands on production work across music videos, branded campaigns, documentaries and short films.
Over time, his work evolved into a distinct visual style rooted in grounded realism, cinematic lighting and emotionally authentic storytelling.
His directing and cinematography work often explores themes surrounding identity, consequence, social pressure, youth culture and underrepresented communities, drawing influence from British social realism while combining modern cinematic visuals and immersive sound design.
Alongside narrative filmmaking, he has directed and produced projects for brands, councils, charities and organisations throughout the UK and UAE.
Aeman is also the founder of Indie Crib, an independent film streaming and distribution platform created to help filmmakers retain ownership of their work while building audiences and generating revenue directly from their films.
The platform was developed in response to the growing challenges independent filmmakers face with discoverability, monetisation and traditional gatekeeping within the industry.
His recent short film Caught Up, co-directed with Ali Afzal, explores themes of youth exploitation, manipulation and consequence through a raw and emotionally driven lens inspired by real accounts from communities across Lancashire.
Developed in partnership with Lancashire Constabulary and The Prosper Partnership, the film aims to encourage conversation and raise awareness around the realities of youth criminal exploitation and the pressures affecting young people today.
Alongside his narrative work, Aeman continues to operate across commercial production, cinematography and film education, with a growing focus on building opportunities for emerging filmmakers and creating pathways into the screen industries for underrepresented communities.
