A philosopher-turned-filmmaker
Before making the leap to filmmaking, Adam was Professor of Philosophy at MSU Denver and founding director of D-phi, a center that explores the intersection of philosophy, film, literature and the arts. He holds a B.A. in South Asia Studies and a Ph.D. in the philosophy of religion from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2021, he wrote, directed and produced his first short film, CYCLE VÉRITÉ, which explores the paradox of forgiveness. He produced and edited the documentary short THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SUN (currently in post-production), which tells the story of a resourceful unhoused man of Anishinaabe descent who struggles to reclaim a scrap of land in the heart of Hollywood. Working alongside his wife and producing partner, Suchitra Mattai, and drawing upon his extensive experience in South Asia, Adam recently completed work on ANUJA, a short that follows the lives of two sisters who work in a garment factory in Delhi.
