Movies make the world go 'round.
Abril Diaz is a Mexican-American artist, filmmaker, and writer who grew up in the small town of Tracy, California. After high school, she moved to San Francisco to attend The School of Cinema at San Francisco State University. From a young age, she's had a passion for telling stories through both language and visuals, inspiring her to study the art of film.
Abril has gone on to write, direct, and produce several personal projects and music videos. With her short film work, she is drawn to exploring themes of isolation and the unconscious mind, e.g., dreams. Through combining familiar settings with surreal narrative, she aims to blur the lines between reality and the unconscious.
More recently, Abril has begun exploring Super 8 as a medium. She has a short film titled "Exit Through the Sky" that has just completed post-production.
