Abidul Islam Omit is a filmmaker based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Film and Television from Jagannath University, where he cultivated his love for cinema through hands-on experience in directing, editing, and various key aspects of filmmaking.
Throughout his academic journey, Omit worked on numerous short films and creative projects, taking on roles that allowed him to sharpen his storytelling skills while exploring the visual and emotional language of cinema. He has directed, edited, written, and managed production tasks, gaining a well-rounded understanding of both the artistic and technical dimensions of film.
Driven by a passion for meaningful narratives, his works often reflect real-life issues, human emotion, and cultural identities. He strives to tell stories that are intimate, relevant, and impactful—blending personal insight with a cinematic perspective that resonates widely.
Influenced by both Bangladeshi and global filmmakers, Omit's storytelling approach balances aesthetic depth with narrative clarity. He believes that film has the power to provoke thought, evoke empathy, and inspire change.
Currently, he is focused on developing independent projects for festival circuits while continuing to explore new creative opportunities. Open to collaboration and cross-cultural storytelling, Omit is committed to evolving as an artist and contributing to the growth of meaningful cinema from South Asia and beyond.
