1. PRESENTATION:
ANIMATIBA – CURITIBA INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL is an event that seeks to bring together artists, technicians, researchers, teachers, students, fans, companies and institutions around the art of animation, through the aesthetic appreciation of works, critical discussion, exchange of information and generation of strategic reflections for the development of the audiovisual industry.
2 – DATE/PLACE
The next edition will take place between MAY 8th and 14th, 2025 at CINE PASSEIO, (http://www.cinepasseio.org/)
3 – REGISTRATION
3.1 - Film submissions must be made only via FILMFREEWAY platform: https://filmfreeway.com/
3.2 - The director must provide access to a copy for selection on the FILMFREEWAY platform.
3.3 - Submission is completely free.
3.4 – The ANIMATIBA organization may invite films to be part of special screenings.
NOTE:
a) the submission act certifies that the candidate knows the regulation and agrees with its terms;
b) The submission is valid only with the authorizations by the legal responsible for the film;
c) When registering, the following materials must be added:
• Movie viewing link on the Filmfreeway platform
• Short synopsis in Portuguese or English (up to 100 characters)
• 1 Photograph of the Director in JPG or PNG (300dpi);
• 1 stills from the film in JPG or PNG format (300dpi);
• List of dialogues and intertitles in English or Portuguese in SRT format;
d) The films selected for ANIMATIBA will only be shown at the ANIMATIBA event.
e) Selected or invited films may be shown in future ANIMATIBA retrospective exhibitions.
f) Excerpts of up to 30 seconds from the selected or invited films will be used to publicize and promote the event, this or future editions.

There will be special sessions for public schools, bringing the best of animated cinema to underprivileged children and young people.
7 – CATEGORIES
7.1 – COMPETITIVE FEATURE FILM – Brazilian and foreign films lasting more than 70 minutes.
7.2 – COMPETITIVE SHORT FILM (Brazilians and foreigners, students and professionals)
7.3 – SPECIAL – films specially invited to the festival.
NOTE:
a) Films entered must be made using any technique or set of animation techniques.
b) The themes of the films are free.
c) Films must have been made after January 1, 2022.
d) The films presented for selection must be completely finished.
e) Films previously submitted to other editions of the festival will not be considered eligible.
f) Series episodes are not accepted as short films.
g) The film director or the responsible for submission will indicate the category relating to their film.
h) Each film can only be entered once, in a single category.
i) The candidate can submit several films. However, each film corresponds to a new entry.
j) Films must be registered by the holder of the property rights to the work, production or distribution company, or by the director, as long as he or she has all the powers to do so.
k) The authorization must be completed by the person responsible.
l) The person responsible for the film will not charge for screening fees for his film at the ANIMATIBA festival.
m) The Festival does not pay per exhibition.
8 – TECHNICAL ASPECTS
8.1 – For selection, filmmakers must make the film available on the FILMFREEWAY platform.
8.2 – The directors of the selected films must make an EXHIBITION COPY available for download via a link with a password to the festival organization or through the FilmFreeway platform.
8.3 – The EXHIBITION COPY must be sent in one of the following formats:
a) FEATURE FILM: MOV (codec h264) or MP4 (codec h264)
b) SHORT FILM: MOV (codec h264) or MP4 (codec h264)
8.4 – Films in a language other than Portuguese must include subtitles in English or send the respective list of dialogues in English or Portuguese, in SRT format.
8.5 – THE DISPLAY COPY, as well as the list of dialogues, should be made available in January and February 2025.
9 – SELECTION
9.1 – The selection committee will choose the films seeking to compose sessions of relevant quality in terms of content and form, seeking thematic, regional and technical diversity, limiting the number of films selected to the event's programming capacity.
9.2 - The Selection Committee may classify the film in another category, if it deems necessary.
9.3 - The Commission's decision is final and is not subject to appeal.
9.4 - The festival's artistic direction may choose films to be included in non-competitive exhibitions.
9.5 - Selected films will be notified via the ANIMATIBA website and by email registered on the Filmfreeway platform.
9.6 - The selected films will be announced on the ANIMATIBA website in January 2025.
9.7 – The selected film that is not made available by February 28, 2023 will be disqualified.
10 – AWARDS
10.1 – The Awards Jury will be made up of artists, technicians, critics and researchers.
10.2 – No member of the Jury may have any relationship with any selected film.
10.3 – The Jury will determine the winners of each category. The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
10.4 – The winners of each category will receive an Official Award Certificate and the ANIMATIBOSCOPIO trophy that will be sent to the person responsible for the film, at the address indicated in the registration.

10.5 – Categories and Awards:
10.5.1 – FEATURE FILM: BEST FILM; SPECIAL AWARDS DESIGNATED BY THE JURY.
10.5.2 - SHORT FILMS: BEST FILM; SPECIAL AWARDS DESIGNATED BY THE JURY.
10.5.3 – BRAZILIAN SHORT FILM: BEST FILM; SPECIAL AWARDS DESIGNATED BY THE JURY.
10.5.4 - ABCA AWARD, from the BRAZILIAN ANIMATION CINEMA ASSOCIATION
10.6 – The Festival may also honor meritorious personalities with the ANIMATIBOSCOPIO trophy.
11 - LECTURE
The ANIMATIBA organization will invite renowned person(s) to speak during the festival.
12 - ACADEMIC MEETING
The ANIMATIBA organization will hold academic meeting(s) to stimulate activity with Free Courses, Technical Schools and Universities.
13 - PROFESSIONAL MEETING
The event organizers will invite professional entities to meetings in order to stimulate debate on aspects of economic development in the area.
14 - WORKSHOP
ANIMATIBA will also feature a Workshop held by an Animation professional.
15 – CASES OF FORCE MAJEURE
In the event of a pandemic or other force majeure that prevents the ANIMATIBA event from being held in person, it will be held online and those selected authorize this format for exhibiting their works.
16 - COPYRIGHT AND MUSICAL EXHIBITION RIGHT
The Director of the Film, the Production Company, the School, the Person Responsible for the Rights, the Musical Authors, as provided for in Law 9.610/98, exempt the WORK from charging copyrights relating to the execution of the film and its music(s) present in the film, during its public screening at the CURITIBA INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL, to be held at Cine Passeio.
17 - AGREEMENT
The act of submission certifies that the candidate is aware of the regulations and agrees with their terms.
