REGULATION
1. PRESENTATION:
ANIMATIBA – FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE ANIMAÇÃO DE CURITIBA is a biannual event that seeks to bring together artists, technicians, researchers, teachers, students, fans, companies and institutions around the art of animation, for the aesthetic appreciation of works, critical discussion, exchange of information and generation of strategic reflections for the audiovisual industry development.
2 - DATE / PLACE
The next edition will take place between MAY 04 to MAY 10, 2023 at CINE PASSEIO, (http://www.cinepasseio.org/)
OBS .: in case of lockdown due to pandemic issues or other reason of force majeure, the exhibitions will be online.
3 - REGISTRATION
3.1 - The submission of films must be made through the FilmFreeway platform, in the website: https://filmfreeway.com/
3.2 – The director must provide access to a copy for selection on the FILMFREEWAY platform.
3.3 – The film submission is completely free.
3.4 - The ANIMATIBA organization may invite films to compose special exhibitions.
IMPORTANT:
a) The submission act certifies that the candidate knows the regulation and agrees with its terms;
b) The submission is valid only with the authorizations by the legal responsible for the film;
c) When registering the submission, the following materials must be added:
• Link for viewing the film on Filmfreeway platform (with password, if applicable)
• Short synopsis in Portuguese or English (up to 100 characters)
• Director’s photo in JPG or PNG format (300dpi);
• 3 stills of the film in JPG or PNG format (300dpi);
• List of dialogues and intertitles in English or Portuguese in SRT, TXT, RTF or DOCX format.
d) The films selected for ANIMATIBA will be shown only at the ANIMATIBA event.
e) Selected or invited films may be shown in future retrospectives exhibitions by ANIMATIBA.
f) Excerpts of up to 30 seconds from the selected films or guests, and images, and director's photos will be used to publicize and promote the event or upcoming editions.
g) Those responsible for the selected films should send the copies for screening or free them to download via Filmfreeway by at most February 28, 2023. Films not available by this date will be disqualified.

There will be special sessions for public schools, bringing the best of animated cinema to underprivileged children and young people.
7 - CATEGORIES
7.1 - COMPETITIVE OF FEATURE FILM - Brazilian and foreign films over 70 minutes.
7.2 - COMPETITIVE OF FOREIGN SHORT FILMS - films made outside Brazil, with a maximum of 15 minutes.
7.3 - COMPETITIVE OF BRAZILIAN SHORT FILMS - films made in Brazil, with a maximum of 15 minutes.
7.4 - COMPETITIVE OF SHORT FILMS MADE BY BRAZILIAN STUDENTS - films made in Brazil, by students of free courses, institutions of graduate or undergraduate courses, with a maximum of 15 minutes..
7.5 - SPECIAL - films specially invited to the festival.
NOTES.:
a) Films submitted must be made using any technique or set of animation techniques. In the case of a hybrid film, the animated part must correspond to a minimum of 75% of the content.
b) The theme of the films is free.
c) Films must have been made after January 1, 2020.
d) Films submitted for selection must be fully finalized.
e) Films previously submitted to other editions of the Animatiba festival will not be considered eligible.
f) Series episode can not be entered as a short film.
g) Foreign films made in educational institutions must be entered in the category of foreign short film or feature film.
h) The film director or submission responsible will indicate the category for your film.
i) Each film can only be entered once, in a single category.
j) The candidate can submit several films. However, each film has a new entry.
k) Films must be registered by the owner of the patrimonial rights on the work, the producing or distributing company, or by the author, as long as he or she has all the powers to do so.
l) The authorization items must be marked by the responsible.
m) The responsible for the film will not charge exhibition rights for his film at the ANIMATIBA festival.
8 - TECHNICAL ASPECTS
8.1 - For selection, the directors must provide a link to film on FilmFreeway platform.
8.2 - The responsibles of the selected films must make a COPY OF EXHIBITION available for download through a password link to the festival organization or via FilmFreeway platform.
8.3 - THE COPY OF EXHIBITION must be sent in one of the following formats:
a) FEATURE FILMS: MOV (Prores 4.2.2) or MOV (codec H264) or MP4 (codec h264). The festival will make a DCP copy for theatrical exhibition.
b) SHORT FILM: MOV (codec H264) or MP4 (codec h264). The festival will make a DCP copy for theatrical exhibition.
8.4 - Films in a language other than Portuguese must send the respective list of dialogues in English or Portuguese, in SRT format.
8.5 - THE COPY OF EXHIBITION, as well as the list of dialogues, must be made available in MARCH 2023.
9 - SELECTION
9.1 - The Selection Committee will choose the films seeking to compose sessions of relevant quality in terms of content and form, seeking thematic, region and technical diversity, limiting the number of selected films to the event's programming capacity.
9.2 - The Selection Committee may frame the film in another category, if deemed necessary.
9.3 - The Commitee's decision is final and is not subject to appeal.
9.4 - The artistic direction of the festival will be able to choose films to invite for non-competitive shows.
9.5 - The selected candidates will be notified through the ANIMATIBA website and by the email registered on the Filmfreeway platform.
9.6 - The selected films will be announced on the ANIMATIBA website in January 2023.
9.7 - The selected film that is not made available until the date of February 28, 2023 will be disqualified.
10 - AWARDS
10.1 - The Award Jury will be formed by artists, technicians, critics and researchers.
10.2 - The Jury members are prohibited to have a relationship with any selected film.
10.3 - The Jury will determine the winners of each category. The jury's decision is final, not subject to appeal.
10.4 - The winners of each category will receive an Official Award Certificate and the ANIMATIBOSCOPE trophy that will be sent to the person responsible for the film, at the address indicated in the registration. The trophy can be seen at the following link:

10.5 - Categories and Awards:
10.5.1 - FEATURE FILMS: BEST FILM and JURY SPECIAL AWARDS
10.5.2 - FOREIGN SHORT FILMS: BEST FILM and JURY SPECIAL AWARDS
10.5.3 - BRAZILIAN SHORT FILMS: BEST FILM and JURY SPECIAL AWARDS
10.5.4 - SHORT FILMS FROM BRAZILIAN STUDENTS: BEST FILM
10.5.5 – ABCA PRIZE from ASSOCIAÇÃO BRASILEIRA DE CINEMA DE ANIMAÇÃO
10.6 - The Festival will also be able to honor meritorious personalities with the ANIMATIBOSCOPE trophy.
11 - LECTURES
The ANIMATIBA organization will invite renowned persons to speak during the festival.
12 - ACADEMIC MEETING
The ANIMATIBA organization will hold an academic meeting (s) to stimulate the activity with Free Courses, Technical Schools and Universities.
13 - PROFESSIONAL MEETING
The organization of the event will invite professional entities to meetings in order to stimulate the debate on aspects of economic development in the area.
14 - WORKSHOP
ANIMATIBA will also have a workshop held by an animation professional.
15 - CASES OF FORCE MAJEURE
In the event of a pandemic or other force majeure the ANIMATIBA will be held online and those selected authorize this format for displaying their works.
16 - AUTHOR AND MUSICAL EXHIBITION RIGHTS
The Director of the Film, the Production Company, the School, the person Responsible for the rights, the Musical Authors, as provided for in Law 9.610 / 98, release the WORK from the collection of the copyright related to the execution of the film and its music(s) present in the film, during its public screening at the CURITIBA INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL, to be held at Cine Passeio, between May 4th and 10th, 2023.
17 - AGREEMENT
The submission act certifies that the candidate knows the regulation and agrees with its terms.
