Submissions are open to all residents of the state of Georgia, USA.
FILM SUBMISSIONS RULES & TERMS

Submitted films must be original works in English or with English subtitles, and must have been completed after January 1, 2023.
Filmmakers must have served as director and/or producer of the film, and own the rights to use the content within the scope of the project, to be eligible.
Each submission must fit within one of the following film categories, and adhere to category time limits:
Short Documentary (maximum length: under 11 minutes)
Short Narrative (maximum length: under 11 minutes)
Micro Film (maximum length: under 3 minutes)
Filmmakers may submit a maximum of one film per category.
All submissions must be submitted only via the contest entry page at FilmFreeway.com and must adhere to any additional requirements posted on the site. To be considered for entry into the AMSC Film Festival, films must be submitted between July 20, 2024 and September 20, 2024. Winners will be notified by October 9, 2024.
Filmmakers warrant that any and all submitted films comply with all U.S. intellectual property laws, privacy laws, and other applicable laws and legal requirements. Further, filmmakers authorize the AMSC Bring Your Brilliance Short Film Festival to publicly show and/or exhibit submitted films. Filmmakers agree to indemnify and hold harmless Atlanta Metropolitan State College and its employees from any and all claims, lawsuits, or other costs resulting from either negligence or willful misconduct committed by filmmakers in association with the creation, production, publication, or distribution of film submitted to the AMSC Bring Your Brilliance Short Film Festival.
Filmmakers grant permission to Atlanta Metropolitan State College and its affiliates to exhibit and screen submitted films in conjunction with AMSC Bring Your Brilliance Short Film Festival screening events which will take place between October 22 - 24, 2024. Furthermore, filmmakers grant Atlanta Metropolitan State College and its affiliates permission to use still images and video excerpts from submitted films for general marketing purposes by the College after the AMSC Bring Your Brilliance Short Film Festival screening period has concluded.
GENERAL AND HIGH SCHOOL SHORT SCREENPLAY COMPETITION RULES AND TERMS:
• All screenplays (scripts) must be submitted in English.
• Submitted screenplays must have not been optioned, have a shopping agreement or sold after to January 1st 2023.
• All screenplays submitted for the General Screenplay Competition must be written by current Georgia residents of the USA over 18 years old.
• All screenplays submitted for the High School Screenplay Competition must be written by current Georgia residents of the USA that attend a known high school in the state of Georgia.
• AMSC BYBF reserves the right in its sole discretion to close entries at any time.
• AMSC BYBF reserves the right in its sole discretion to reject or disqualify any ineligible entries.
Originality and Permissions; INDEMNITY:
• Scripts must be the original work of the applicant(s). If based upon another person’s life or upon a book or other underlying work, applicant(s) must secure any necessary rights to make such adaptations. However, it is not necessary to submit the adaptation or rights agreements to the festival. Neither the Festival nor its jurists investigate or attests to the authenticity of an applicant’s statement of authorship or rights secured. By entering the competition, you are acknowledging that you have secured all necessary rights.
• BY SUBMITTING THE MATERIAL, THE APPLICANT HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND DEFEND THE FESTIVAL, ITS EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AFFILIATES FROM ANY LIABILITY, CLAIMS, AND DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SUBMISSION AND FROM ANY FEES AND EXPENSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES, THAT ANY OF THEM MAY INCUR IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.
Additional Information:
• If a submission involves two or more writers as applicants, the monetary prize and any reimbursements will be divided equally among them and only one BYBF Award will be provided.
• No revisions or missing pages will be accepted once an entry has been received.
• Awards are based solely on the overall merit of entries. Judges reserve the right not to grant an award.
• We strongly suggest that applicants copyright their materials with the U.S. Copyright Office and/or register their screenplay with the Writers Guild of America. Please consult an attorney regarding any questions about these.
• AMSC BYBF Short Screenplay General Competition reserves the right to limit the number of entries to a maximum of twenty-five (25). Once this cap is reached, no further entries will be accepted.
• AMSC BYBF Short Screenplay High School Competition reserves the right to limit the number of entries to a maximum of twenty-five (25). Once this cap is reached, no further entries will be accepted.
GENERAL/HIGH SCHOOL SHORT SCREENPLAY AWARD RULES:
• All General Rules listed above apply.
• Short scripts that have already been produced are ineligible.
• This award is open to short script of any narrative and genre.
General Format Rules:
• Screenplays should be formatted according to current industry standards.
• To follow standard guidelines for format, consult any popular screenwriting text for assistance.
• Font size must be 12-point and in Courier or Courier New type.
• All Short Screenplays must be a maximum of 15 pages in length.
• Pages must be numbered in the top right-hand corner.
• NO REVISIONS OR MISSING PAGES WILL BE ACCEPTED ONCE ENTRY HAS BEEN RECEIVED.
• Scripts submitted must be in PDF format and under 50 MB.
Selected Scripts and Winners:
AMSC BYBF has no obligation (other than as stated in these rules or on our website) to disclose any of the following information: i) identities of readers or judges; ii) notes, feedback, or information relating to the submitted material; and/or iii) details regarding the submission review or selection process.
Except as explicitly stated, no representations or guarantees are made regarding the feedback or comments provided, or the quality thereof. The opinions of the readers are their own and do not reflect the opinions of AMSC BYBF. AMSC BYBF explicitly disclaims any liability or responsibility for any comments, notes, or opinions expressed about a submission, whether by AMSC BYBF or by its readers, judges, and sponsors.
Finalists will be announced October 7th, 2024 via email confirmation.
Finalists will be invited to the AMSC BYBF Short Screenplay Table Read, on (October 24, 2024).
The judges’ decision is final.
Finalists receiving cash prizes are solely responsible for payment of all applicable local, state, and federal taxes.
Returns and Acknowledgements:
• Scripts will not be returned under any circumstances.
• All Online Submissions will receive a confirmation email upon upload of script onto FilmFreeway.com.
COMPETITION IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
