Born in Kagoshima, Kyushu, and raised in Miyazaki, I graduated from elementary, middle, and high school in Miyazaki. I have a weak color vision deficiency.
During my third year of high school, I won a classical guitar contest, but a mishap during the encore performance where I injured my fingernails led me to abandon my dreams of becoming a professional musician. Instead, I pursued a path into the world of film through the Film Studies Department at the Faculty of Arts, Nihon University.
At that time in Japan, I learned that having color vision deficiency would prevent me from even taking the formal entrance exams for film companies and television stations. Undeterred, I began my career as a freelance assistant director while still in school. Eventually, at the age of 25, I entered the world of television dramas as a freelance assistant director.
After working as the Chief Assistant Director for major Japanese television networks, I made my debut as a director for a continuous drama series at the age of 29. From that point onwards, I have been actively involved in the television drama industry for approximately 20 years.
I continued to build my career by working on multiple drama series, and in my forties, I finally realized my dream of becoming a film director. To this day, I've been actively pursuing both directing and screenwriting in the film industry.
In the realm of filmmaking, I have a particular affinity for projects rooted in historical events and real-life stories. I have strived to bring these narratives to the silver screen, not only through directing but also by contributing to the screenplay.
Due to my past experiences with conditions such as depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder, I developed a profound interest in psychology. Drawing from the topics I had contemplated for years, I made the decision to write the screenplay for my latest film, "ALLURE."
One notable achievement in my film career was my involvement in the film "ALLURE,"
where I took on the challenge of not only directing but also delving into the realm of color grading, alongside video editing.
